When in NYC you have to try the corned beef hash at the Cafe Edison (aka the "Polish Tea Room") on W47th Street in the theater district. No only is the CBH the best(as are the blintzes) but Neil Simon has his own table! Great place for spotting theater celebs.

Love the corned beef hash at B&D Deli on Beacon Street in Brookline. They make it frsh from their own corned beef in house, but the key is that they grill it so its crispy in the outside, but creamy on the inside. Heaven!

Small world! I haven't been there in years but they used to make a really good Shepherd's Pie as well. Their (your) CBH was great. Fred

A trick I learned by accident is that when staying at a Hilton on points you get credit for the night by having a charge on your bill. Therefore when staying at at the Waldorf a few years ago I ordered CBH for breakfast via room service.

Looked like 1/2 a football covered w/ six poached eggs. Best CBH I've ever eaten. Thirty plus bucks but they had upgraded me to a $1500/ night room so "no problem".

I had corned beef hash and eggs this morning at a local diner. While it was prefab stuff, it still hit the spot.

I know the best is home-made, though.

The Hamburg Inn #2 in Iowa City, IA makes a great corned beef hash. Family run Diner since 1948.

I really like the Hash at Kelly's diner in Somerville Ma, and am particularly partial to the Hash at The Hi Tide in Winthrop Ma, though it is really tucked away.... 'you can't get theah from heah' type of thing!

But I can and do enjoy it in a hash fashion.
I also have been known to fine chop some corned beef and mix it in with leftover mashed potatos then fry like a potato pancake, damn decient. Chow Jim

The Agawam Diner in Rowley, MA started making CBH from scratch 3-4 years ago, and it's spoiled me for anything less. It's the best I've ever had, bar none. I'm pretty sure they use grey-cured corned beef, which is another hard and fast preference I developed while living in eastern MA. I used to be quite happy to get the canned stuff in a restaurant (if it was cooked well, of course), but now, if it's not made on the premises, I won't pay for it.

Brother's Deli in Danvers MA makes a very nice corned beef & cheese omelet - big slices of corned beef cooked with the eggs. Mmmmm......

Here in south florida the best corned beef hash I have found usually comes from the delis. They us chunks of hand trimmed corned beef from their sandwich meats and fry it crispy with a touch of well done edges. To die for. BKK

                        A different twist on "Hash"-
Turkey Sweet potato hash at North Star Cafe in Columbus ohio.

I usually order a side of hollandaise sauce with my corned beef hash

I had the corned beef hash this morning at Burke's in Baltimore. The has was served in a way that I haven't seen before. It was cooked as a slice of hash - think scrapple- as oppossed to the normal pile or mound. Anyway, is the there a kind of hash that comes in a loaf?

oh, the hash really wasn't that great. The eggs, however, we perfectly done.

I know I'll be in trouble for suggesting this one. Big name casinos in A.C. and Vegas never let me down with their usually perfect corned beef hash. ymmmm.

I've mentioned this before in another CBH thread, but the best hash I've had was at the Miss Florence Diner in Florence, MA. They grind the ingredients instead of leaving them chunky. (I believe this is an old NE way of preparing hash; can anyone colloborate?)

I was born and bred in New England. My family and my wife's family both ground the Corned Beef with an old iron hand grinder. We still use my mother-in-laws unit. We both laughed the other day when we saw one for sale in an antique shop window!

Hash in Connecticut- Middletown, CT has O'Rourkes Diner. Brian always has some kind of hash on the menu. Restaurant is a Classic Diner that has been in action for 40 plus years. Brian bought it from an uncle, and makes frsh bread EVERY day. A must stop in the central CT area for all foodies!

The best corned beef hash was made by Jorge Alfaro, a prep cook at Bubba's Diner in San Anselmo, CA.  He was so good that he came along each time a new owner purchased the place. He was part of the deal.

Would you be able to squeeze the recipe, (probably no recipe, just how he makes it and what's in it) from him????

                                                DD,
I've had some good Breakfasts and some mediocre one's at Chompies. when they're good they're good, and when they're not on it-------. Depends on which Mexican is working the grill in this Jewish Deli!! The Bagels and the other bakery items are right on!

One of the greatest spots we've found for homemade corned beef hash is the Snydersville Family Diner in Stroudsburg, PA.  It was homemade, not the mushy canned stuff.

If you're interested in something different you should also try Crab Hash, as served by Morgan's Family Restaurant, northwest of Allentown, PA.  On another note, they also serve the best stuffed French Toast I've ever had.
