The recent forum post on 'restaurant theivery' got me to thinking. What's a pack of ketchup cost? Heinz vs Hunts vs Generic? A local restaurant that serves 1 lb bag of fries gives no ketchup unless you ask, if you ask, gives you 2 packs. (of Sysco co-branded Hunts) My sisters ficance' demands that she gets him 8 packs of ketchup from there, and due to the amount of buiness he does with them he gets it, but no one else gets more than 2 without a evil stare.

What's packs of sugar, splenda cost? What about napkins, plasticware, etc. Just ballpark figures, just to satisfy curiosity.

Couldn't give you the exact numbers today... But in all seriousness, it's better to fill a small container (1oz, 2oz or 4oz) vs. handing out packets... Last I knew, they where like 6.5 cents each, but thats been a few years ago. May be a bit more labor intensive, but in the long run, it should save ya $$.

If it makes you feel better, I understand your post.
Maybe curiosity is a bigger word than we thought.

Last time I bought, a pack of ketchup cost me 1.5 cents. Much less than packaging it yourself in expensive 2 oz plastic containers with lids. On the other hand, the packs are FAR more convenient, so you save labor. If it were me......go with the Heinz little packages.

Went to my local Costco today to pick up another box of Heinz catsup packets, and after searching, was told they were "discontinued" at this store. Then the Costco guy got on the phone and told me that they have 12 boxes and 12 on order at a store in another town.....which I had just driven through about 45 minutes earlier!

Why in the world would one Costco discontinue them while another has 12 in stock and 12 on order?

Dynamic inventory control. That Costco apparently had little inventory movement on the ketchup packs while the other Costco does.
