Chewy, I just called on getting some Black Angus calves for my pasture. Last year at this time I paid $1.10 lb, this year they are $1.47. The two cows I bought for $900, and now worth about $3200. I think we are going to see beef prices going higher soon...........PNWC

No question, produce too...checked tomatoes lately?

Chewy, I checked the price of Romaine lettuce, $60 a case, my salad mix went up in the last few weeks from $4.95 to 7.95 for a 5lb bag. Tomatoes are still to high and they don't taste good anyway....................never ending..................

Michael, I talked my wife into trying a new, New York pizza place in town, We never eat pizza because it really sucks in the PNW. Anyway, we ordered a pepperoni pizza and the Abeets came out with large slices, like the "pizza by the slice board walk size." I knew it was up to me to show the proper way to eat a slice that big, with out loosing all the toppings. We all know eating a slice of Abeets should not be taken lightly, it's serious business. It felt like old times at Jerry's Apizza, tears almost falling from my eyes and scamotza hanging from my chin, it was heaven. The place also offers Italian grinders and he ships in all the meats from NYC. I think I love this guy, he makes me happy.....................

I'm glad for you. And I sure wish I could find a place like that around here.
 
I can't understand why it is that you could go almost anywhere in the Bridgeport to New Haven area and never worry about getting a terrific apizza, while here in Ohio I can't go anywhere and get a decent one.

I can't understand why it is that you could go almost anywhere in the Bridgeport to New Haven area and never worry about getting a terrific apizza, while here in Ohio I can't go anywhere and get a decent one.

We grew up in a area that offered all the foods of Europe, Our area was heavy in Italian, but also had a lot of influence from all regions of Europe. I didn't realize how good it was until I left. I need to plan a trip back East, I need a some Fried clams, New York pizza, a real Italian Meatball grinder, Lobster Roll, stuffed and baked clams, and so on.........OH Yah, Hot dog stands, I miss hot dog stands, no one eats hot dogs out here.................

Think I paid $28 for 5x6 last week, and they were crap!

Kirkland Specials at my Costco.

I had an account with a large potato processor that packed french fries for whoever wanted something packed and labeled under their own brand name. If the company that is making the Hot Dogs are packing their Dogs under the kirkland, then wouldn't it show on the package who makes the Dogs...........Paul Harvey (Chewy) check the label and see who packs the Dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........Good day

Michael, Did you see the opening page yesterday on the stuffed Quahogs, Stuffies I guess they call them ?????????????.... I grew up eating and making Stuffed & Baked Clams, they would have a bread stuffing, with the ground Clam that when through the old crank grinder, mixed with chopped celery and seasonings topped with paprika. THey would bake the clams, and when done they would have a nice thin crispy crust with a tender flavorful clam stuffing on the inside. We would eat these with a Cocktail sauce, home made of course............My question is, the picture showed the stuffed clams with two pats of butter on the side ????????? have you ever had these, what they call "Stuffies" because they are different than I remember.........................PNWC.............P.S. like you and I would stop for a hamburger on the way home today, as a kid walking home from the Boys Club, we would buy a few of the stuffed Clams, topped with cocktail sauce, to eat on the way home. This was not an easy thing to eat while waling down the street.................

Hey Probie,  You seem to be adjusting  quite well ! Maybe you can tell me...What's the difference between a "Stuffie" and "Clams Casino" ?  I have enjoyed the Clams Casino several times along the Jersey Shore and further South..(Chesapeake Bay area), but then the term (and the menu item ) seems to disappear as the Oysters take overthe menu.
RE- The Costco Hot Dogs...I usually get a Polish-dog at the snackbar there, but we buy the Cajun Hot Links Kirkland brand for home use ( 3 lb pkg =$9.00)

I ate stuffed clams from the time I was old enough to eat, I think. I don't remember a time growing up when I didn't have them (and for years I used to dig the clams). But we never called them Stuffies. I think that's a Rhode Island/Massachusetts term. As to butter, I seem to recall there was butter in the stuffing mixture, but never on the side.

Al, stuffed clams are made with minced or ground up clams. Clams Casino is made with whole clams topped with breadcrumbs, bacon and other stuff.

Hi Al, don't be throwing around the "Probie" deal, or I'll ave to charge you for the information. Clams Casino, "the way I made them in Ct" was seasoned bread crumbs, minced onion garlic and onions, juice of some lemon, a bit of melted butter and mix everything together. Put a small amount on top of a opened raw cherrystone clam, top with a small piece of raw bacon and bake in the oven. they are done when the bacon is crisp. There is a big difference between the Stuffed and baked clam and the Clams Casino. I think the "Stuffie" came about because of the large numbers of Portuguese population that settled in Ma......................That my story and I'm sticking to it........ and thanks Al, I am settling in well. Probie is one thing, let me know if I get to be a "Know-it-all-bie"

I guess I've been watching too many reruns of NCIS !! The 'Probie' term is used a lot in that series!  Thanks to both of you for explaining the difference.  WJ uses the Stuffie term a lot when talking about Clams in R I .

Do a Geraldo----Go behind the scenes and look for a Outer Cardboard Box that the shelf packages come in. The Source is required to list their name on the carton.

I guess you're not familiar with the taxes in Connecticut these days. They even tax time spent in the state, I hear. Any time I might spend there has to be stealth-like or I can't afford it.

Michael, The state of Ct would have to pay be to go back to Bridgeport. If I went back to where I grew up, I wouldn't live long enough to pay them.............You saw how they let Pleasure Beach go to Hell, just think of how the rest of the city looks.................
