As stated in my earlier post about water in which i mentioned i'm trying to watch what I eat, I wanted to let you know how shocked I was last night when I didn't know what to eat for dinner. I was going to eat a bowl of cereal but then I saw those cup of noodles where you add boiling water andlet it sit for a while and i figured I'd eat that. Well forget it! That little thing had 12 grams of FAT!!!! How? From where? My friend and I were discussing it and we couldn't believe soup could have that much fat!! The one I had was Maruchan brand, chicken flavor. We concluded that more than likely it was the flavoring that made it "fatty".

Oh those are notoriously bad for you- the noodles are fried and made with hydrogenated fats not to mention the sodium content!!

You can actually buy ones where the noodles are baked or there are others that you can buy in asian stores that are made with clear bean thread noodles or rice noodles-much lower in fat as these noodles aren't fried- pkg I have here is 5 grams-no trans fats, 1 saturated. vs fried kind 18grams fat- 10 saturated. Sodium for both packages are unfortunately 1,000+ mg. You're better off buying low sodium chicken broth in the can and cooking some asian noodles in it. You can add garlic, ginger and green onion slices to the broth, bring it to a boil and then simmer to infuse more flavor, then add your favorite type of cooked chinese noodle.

Thanks salsailsa, but I only bought them because my daughter had them once and was hooked! The sodium content really is ridiculous though!!
