Do you know if it's worth a pretty significant detour??

Well, it's a chili buns n burgers joint so that's up to you. I know you're a chili bun man so it might be worth a trip, you could hit a few more rural chili bun parlors in the region on your way there and back. Harlan's bucolic, lots of picture taking opportunities.

Google says it's over an hour off I75. That's a pretty good hike.

        I'd love to visit though.

Do you know it's proximity to Cumberland Gap NP?? The visitors center anyway

It's about an hour or so, plenty chili buns to be had in Pineville and Middlesboro too.

Harlan KY is remote.  You have to go there to get there although it is much easier now than it use to be.  A much better road from Pineville, KY now.  Coal mining use to be their only industry and that was a rugged job with most folks now with black lung.

My company that I am retired to supplied blood and blood products to the hospital and back in the 60's and 70's I visited the hospital in Corbin, Pineville, Middlesboro and Harlan.  It use to be a rough travel.
