Dairy bar hot dogs

We Stopped at the dairy bar on Dunlawton Ave. in Port Orange, FL for the 2nd time. This time I had the camera. It's a small place at the base of the Dunlawton bridge on beachside. As you can see, it says "best chili dogs in town". The hot dogs were Bakers choice 100% beef(never heard of this brand), steamed (my opinion is they could have been cooked more). The buns were straight out of the package. The chili sauce is homemade. Not alot of taste, tasted sort of sweet, not much spice. It's a meat sort of chili sauce. In my opinion Not the best in town. IMHO Stinky Dogs are better. But I would stop in again because it's close to home and cheap. I ordered mustard, onion, sauce. Thirdturn Peg had no onions. She commented there could have been a little less mutard.

Wow! $1.85 for a dog? $2.35 for a Chili Dog? Those are some pretty good prices! Thanks for sharing.

David Nice link. Do you have any additional information about the brand. I would like to add it to my hot dog brands page: Hot Dog Brands

Bakers and Chefs is a house brand of Sam's Clubs and WalMart. There was a thread about them in the Professionals section: http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/tm.aspx?m=428011 No one has ever reported who makes them for WalMart Corporatioon.

Why all the fuss if the only positive attribute accorded these dogs is the low price? The Bear

Here in SE MI, most coney island restaurants have a 99 cent Coney Day (usually Mondays). When not on special, the price is usually $1.65, or less. Almost like price fixing. So, to me, a $2 or more chili dog or coney is pricey.

Nope. If the post is in the hot dog forum, I usually read it. If I responded to every topic, I wouldn't have time to work, play, or eat hot dogs.
