Dallas DFW BBQ history, anyone remember? Thu, 11/30/06 11:51 AM (permalink)
Can anyone remember anythng about the history of BBQ places in Dallas?

I went to high school with a guy named Frank White. His dad owned Bob White's BBQ on Gaston Ave. His brother ( I think? )Roscoe owned two places starting in the 50's. Roscoe White's Corral on Mockingbird Ln. and a place on Lovers Ln. called "Easy Way" or Roscoe White's "The Easy Way Grill". All these places had good BBQ and CFS. There was also a Bob White's on Military Pkwy. Maybe that was Roscoe's son? Anyone know something? I also started a thread about this at the dallashistory.org forum if anyone has an interest.

How about other old BBQ places in Dallas or DFW area?

I'm a big fan of the Railhead in Ft, Worth...

I used to work for Lockheed on Motgomery, so, it was almost right next door.

As the staff at the Railhead's shirts say..."Life's too short to live in Dallas"

way back in the day, there used to be a great bbq shack, and I mean shack, at the SW corner of Park and Preston in Plano. There was nothing at the intersection but fields, and this lonely BBQ shack sitting underneath a live oak tree.

Now, according to AAA and State Farm, that's one of the busiest intersections in the country.

I hope that BBQ guy owned that property Jim. Some folks in Austin owned a tiny spot just off 1st. and Congress, The Tamaly House, great food! They got a half mil I think, when it sold ?
