My family and I are heading to Dallas this weekend. I have never been
there before, but I am looking forward to eating some good barbeque. Please give me some great suggestions. My husband is a barbeque expert. Thanks.

As good a place to start as any is to look at the Dallas and Forth Worth establishments on the list of Texas eateries reviewed on this site.

          Lorprez,
For great BBQ in Dallas- I suggest, the original Sonny Bryan's on Inwood Rd- but be prepared to eat at individual school desks. In addition, and I actually thought better- were 2 others. First one was Holy Smokes on Hillcrest. I loved the smokiness of the meats, and there is a variety of sides. Also great, was a place called Bone Daddy's, and it is on Spring Valley Road. The BBQ and sides were excellent, plus the place has a it of atmosphere-although a bit noisy. It is located near a mall with movie theater, etc.

If you are going to Ft. Worth- try Angelo's. Enjoy

Just had lunch at Sonny's--still good of course. The weather in Dallas is suppose to be great this weekend so you can eat outside at Sonny's on Inwood near Love Field. Get there early, they tend to run out of BBQ by 2 pm or so. I think that location is closed on Sundays. Best to stick with the sliced beef sandwitch-none better me thinks.

This isn't BBQ, but Babe's Chicken Dinner House in Garland, TX has the BEST fried chicken in Dallas. They close early most evenings (around 9pm, even earlier on Sundays, and are closed entirely on Mondays) so get there early. My sister lives in Garland, and the last time I ate there (spring of 2004), a three piece all white meat dinner with sides and rolls was less than $8.00. What a bargain!!!

Baker's Ribs on Commerce Street in the Deep Ellum section of downtown.
Also, try Adair's for burgers and GOOD classic country jukebox (One block up from Baker's) You won't be sorry... the ribs and brisket are to die for!!!

There is also a Babes in Roanoke in case it is closer to where you are staying. I also highly recomend it

Oh, you have to try Sonny Bryan's. It is the best. The sauce is really great!

Weird thing, I see people putting down Sonny Bryan's on this site many a time, then on this thread, it's a great place.

Is it possible that the original is a very good place, and the franchises are not so good, much like what has happened with Uno's of Chicago?

                        (still learning my roadfood lore)

                          Hi TJ

I don't know about the franchises.. but in the Dallas area alone, the one on Inwood (the original) is the best in the area. I have been to the one in McKinney, and the one in Stone Briar mall.. and the original on Inwood is the best. As in an earlier post, I think there is better bbq in Dallas- specifically at Holy Smokes, and Bone Daddy's. In regard to the Sonny Bryan's- really don't know if they are franchises, or company owned stores.
