My company has a branch in Dalton, GA and I would love to hear about good places to eat there. A few of the places I have eaten at and enjoyed include Curt's (run by the same people who operated Gill's Grill) which is a decent cafeteria style place though I believe most of the food is not hand prepared, John's BBQ, Los Reyes, and of course the Depot Restuarant downtown. These places are all decent, but I'd like to find better variety and I've tapped out my co-worker's knowledge which seems to revolve mainly around a nearby Chinese restaurant.

A March 15th response on Chowhound by Cecil brought this information regarding Mexican in Dalton: "Nearest the trade center, Los Pablo's is good, in the parking lot by Fuddrucker's (on Walnut Ave). My favorite Mexican food in Dalton is at Tijuana's - 2 locations: 328 Hamilton St (downtown Dalton) or 2306 Chattanooga Rd. (go North on 41 off the next exit up "Rocky Face", Tijuana's will be on the right. this location is not far from interstate). Villa Juarez is also very good lunch spot in Dalton. 2 locations: 1113 Walnut Ave (just past Riverbend Rd. intersection) or the original location at ?addr on Morris St. Try the tortas jamon y queso. mmm. Others worth trying are: Tacos El Jalapeno at the intersection of Riverbend and Walnut Ave. Espinoza's (700 5th Ave. - turn left at the light at Walnut & Riverbend. "Riverbend" turns into "5th Ave." at that light). Espinoza's is in a rough neighborhood, not very safe even in broad daylight, but they get quite a bit of law enforcement in for lunch. It's good & cheap. There are soo many more (of the hole-in-the-wall variety) that I have not tried, so who knows what other gems there might be. 1st time visitors, I always start with Tijuana's."

I live in Dalton, and the Mexican restaurants are generally good here, and some southern cooking type places also. As far as Italian food, Flamminni's on Walnut Avenue is usually fairly good. The rest are chain restaurants, and I usually go to Chattanooga or Atlanta when I want something unique and/or different.

I agree that the Mexican places on Walnut Ave area are really good, I wish I could remember the names. There's a great little Mexican grocery just off Walnut as well. Dalton as a whole, for not being a large city has some excellent eating establishments. carl reitz

We Daltonians usually think that we have a paucity of restaurants to choose from, unless we are talking Mexican or chains or lunch only places.....
