    CSD,

Congratulations on being in BusinessWeek! There is a guy out here in Jersey that has a boat in the Delaware River selling hot dogs.

Thanks John. The fun never stops. Tomorrow's my first "Behind-the-Counter" training at the Vienna Beef Factory Store & Cafe in Chicago. Students will experience a factory tour with a taste testing session. http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=3744

CSD , Thanks for all the help in getting me started. This a huge success here on Lake Wisconsin and in the Lodi area, just South of Wisconsin Dells.

Thanks Dan. I'm so proud of you. I measure my success by the success of my students. You are truly a shining star. Keep up the great work.

    Enjoy and take care.

I think that idea is totally unique and very cool. My only question is, can you sell enough hot dogs on the water to "stay afloat" haha sorry, couldn't help my self. But seriously, are there that many hungry fisherman on that one specific lake?

Dan vends on Lake Wisconsin from June-August and is very successful. Hungry fishermen? The weekends bring lots of pleasure boaters and hungry customers playing volley ball or tanning on the sand bars.

    Update: 6/9/13
Dan Council, a Chicago boy, opened River Dog Red Hots in Lodi, WI six years ago. Lodi has a population of 3,000 residents. Dan vends in Lodi and Sauk City, WI population 3400. His menu is simple: jumbo hot dog, hot dog, brats, chips, and soda. When the weather is warm, he takes his cart on Lake Wisconsin. Otherwise, Dan sets up on land with his cart in an enclosed trailer and works year round, when the weather permits. Prior to February, 2011, Dan was employed with Madison Gas and Electric and worked his cart on weekends. He's currently vending hot dogs full time and making a living in an area with less than 7,000 people. He's a master at marketing with a squeaky clean set-up, simple menu, and fair prices. Dan's a proud graduate of Hot Dog University, Class of April 2007. He brought a taste of Chicago to an area in Wisconsin that never heard of Vienna Beef Chicago style hot dogs. He's a true Chicago ambassador. Congratulations, Dan! I'm so very proud of you. www.danthehotdogman.com

CSD - You should be very proud of your student.  He runs a 1st class set up, and WOW what a report.  To go from a part time dog thrower to Full Time Master, Awesome.

    Dear Mark,

Just got back from London (Samanta Elliott, my better half, tells me she misses me. I think she has terrible taste in men). Anyways, I am heading back down to New Orleans. Check out Gambits Best of New Orleans 2013 online. I also have replaced laptops and if I can't find your email address, please resend. I plan on giving you a call in the next couple of days. I also want to personally invite you to Dat Dog if and when. Loved following your trips abroad. Who says the over 50's guys and gals don't get around. I've been giving thought to doing an update on "a hotdog seller's story" which I did a few years ago on Roadfood. It's been a wild ride these 2 and a half years. We're opening a third Dat Dog in the Marigny district in New Orleans in May. I still remember our sojourn to Doug Sohn's that long ago day. Being "the hotdog guy" is a lot better than some of the things I've been called throughout the years. Anyways, wanted to see if I could catch you on Roadfood. All the best and continued success at Hot Dog U. Take care, Skip
