Deep Fried Beer

Last year's feat of mad culinary genius from the Texas State Fair was deep-fried butter. This year, deep-fried beer is among the contenders.

Shouldn't the dough & beer pocket be wrapped in bacon first and then fried?

I may have to try Mr. Gonzales' fried beer especially if it's Shiner Bock. Now THAT's Texas!

Deep Fried Beer scored as "Most Original", but the Official Winner for the coveted "Big Tex Deep Fried" award was Deep Fried Frito Pie! YUM!

Those were the pre-Fair judging results. The State Fair opens on Fri. Sept. 24, and if I go, I will certainly try the Fried Frito Pie! 

  I'm sure that any real Texan would only use Shiner Bock or Lone Star beer for any application.

I think I will try some fried Friito Chili Pie, but w/ a beer from a long neck Shiner Bock bottle, instead of fried.
 
And, some fried Chocolate w/ cherry sauce for desert. 
 
Oh, but gotta save some room for the Chili and Rice at the old Gebhardt's booth! And a Ruth's tamale.  And oh, a jalapeno Corney Dog. But, maybe they will have a green chili Corney Dog this year?
 
But... I always start things of w/ a footlong chili dog from the chili place in the food building. And... always some Jack's Frys, w/ vinegar, for desert after that. They have a BIG pump bottle, so you can have unlimited vinegar, on those great frys.
 
Shoot, 8:30! What's for dinner??? I'm REAL hungry now!

there are 2 deep fried beer entries at the Texas State Fair. The first is a deep fried ravioli filled with beer. The 2nd is deep fried dough made with beer.
