Deep fat fried burgers

Since seeing it on TV, today I deep fat fried a burger for myself at my restaurant, oil was 375 degrees, took about a minute to med rare, it was delicious, crusty outside, perfect inside, I could care less about about the health aspects, something is going to get me, it might as well be lotsa fried food!

I serve a breaded cheese burger at my restaurant that is a big hit. They are from Pauls frozen foods. I am thinking they are an Indiana company that cannot sell outside of Indiana. JeanAnne

John A Sounds like a great idea to me, wish someone did it here. ...is that a challenge? I think that there is a place that does it in a cast iron skillet with decades-old oil. It has been on TV and I believe reviewed here too. mark

I've seen the show your talking about though.

Dyer's is the name, and it's a destination on the upcoming Memphis eating tour in February. It has been reviewed on the site here. I'm looking forward to trying one for myself next month! Chris

Chris I watched Sundancer and Tiki and Poverty Pete do those Burgers a while back. They claimed the Burger was pretty good. I couldn't get past the notion of 90 year old grease !!! Maybe I'll join you in testing one this time.! If not, Duff and Demi will share another 'Hand me down' !

Deep fried burgers, yummmmm! Ayersian, I'm with you. I'm looking forward to those lil' cholesterol patties next month too. Should the Glee Club hire a traveling cardiologist to accompany us all to Memphis? I'll chip in ten bucks!

Chewingthefat, Was the hamburger patty you fried fresh or frozen? My friend and I tried it years ago at a snack bar we worked at using a frozen patty. it was way too well done for my tastes. Dave

Susan, the Annual Glee Club and BBQ Appreciation Society chapter of RoadFood will hold it's meeting on Presidents Day weekend. The Friday night dinner will be at Doe's Eat Place in Greenville Mississippi followed by several stops in Memphis on Saturday and Sunday of that weekend (13-14-15 February 2009.) I is open to all RF members. Let us know if you decide to join us...so we can add numbers to the various dinner reservations. Jenn 4 Dyer's in Memphis deep fries the Patty only.

Crabill's in Urbana Ohio fries their mini burgers in a pool of beef fat - not good for the heart but very tasty .

The awesome thing about these hamburgers is that they do not taste the least bit greasy, and are so delicious. I cannot figure it out.
