Deep fried

I know about deep-fried turkey, but has anyone ever deep-fried a chicken? I'm sure it would work, but I don't know how long to cook it.

    It's 3 minute per pound for a turkey ....
    Chickens weigh 2 1/2 - 3 lbs for a fryer
Check the thigh joint for doneness after, close to 10 minutes
if it's still pink .... Cook it some-more

Should be a bit more specific... I'm talking cooking parts, not the whole chicken on that rule of thumb there.. Never deep fried an entire bird in one sitting! (Unless is was by the pc.).

I have a Fry Daddy and I cook chicken parts very frequently. This works for me. I cook them until they are a very pretty golden brown. I cannot tell you the time but it always works.

I wanted to fry the chicken whole like you would do a turkey. I didn't know if the time/pound ratio would change what with a chicken being so much smaller than a turkey.

We do it frequently here...about 20-25 minutes is how long an 8 pound chicken takes.
