Okay, I have one here in my hometown and was wondering who else has experienced the joy and wonder that is fast food Mexican from Del Taco. I think there are only a few left out there.

Even the Mexican guys loved it. I didn't know anything about Mexican food at the time and thought it was pretty good stuff. This past spring I was driving through Arizona and saw a Del Taco right about lunch time. I decided to stop and see if it was any good or if it was just a bunch of bubbas who didn't know any better back when I used to go there. Damn if I didn't get some really good tacos and a very decent burrito! Real shredded meat, fresh ingredients including tasty tomato, not the usual fast food tasteless stuff and a decent guacomole. . . good sauces to boot. I'd certainly go there again.

I tried out del taco when I was vacationing in San Diego this past May. I must say I was quite impressed. The food and selection were great... try finding a taco bell that also serves burgers!

Del Taco left northwest Georgia 15 years ago. It was 20 times as good as Taco Bell and its salsa rivaled the local Mexican restaurants.

Much better fast-food tacos than taco bell. The ground beef actually tastes like beef, the cheese tastes like cheese.. The chili-cheese fries are awesome, especially with some del scorcho sauce on them. I make a run throught the drive-thru everytime I'm in SoCal

There used to be some here in Texas. They made a great green chili taco burger! Just taco meat and green chilis. Hmmm, I can make those. I had forgotten all about that. Hey, it was 30 years ago. Joe

Glad to hear that you all share the love with me. It really is far superior to any fast food mexican and better than most run of the mill mexican restaurants. Xannie, We have .39 cent taco Tuesdays here. May have to go today.

We used to pass by the WORLD headquarters of DEL TACO whenever we visited my Mom at her home in the Laguna Hills/ElToro Rd. Leisure World area (Orange Cty.)SoCal. It is a modern office building built just off Lake Forrest Blvd...with its back wall being part of the Leisure World's security barrier. I used to wonder if the 'Grey Power' folks used the building as a cover to allow them to move undetected in and out of Leisure World...Maxwell Smart Style ???? This is just a couple of miles from the "Taco Bell" Headquarters (Pre-YUM merger) in Irvine, beside the 405.

I have only seen one Del Taco in my commuting/travel area since about 1988, and that was in Florida. I remember the quality and quantity of the food being quite above average. It's a shame that there are not more of these establishments. Another issue of quality dumbed down to local marketing and ignorant consumers, if you ask me.

It was always my first FF choice when living in CA...I wish to heck someone would open one out here in IN, looks like they are in MO and MI but not here. The green sauce option is great...their bean burrito is so superior to the Bell it's not even close.

Seems like Del Taco has actually been expanding around St. Louis for the first time in many years. About a year or so ago, the first brand new Del Taco I had ever seen was built in O'Fallon, MO. All the rest of the Del Tacos in St. Louis were former Naugles.

FYI: Our beloved Del Taco here on St. Simons has been closed and is going to be a Starbucks. I'm not kidding.

I went to Del Taco several times this summer on my travels to Az and Cal. Unfortunatly I had to come home to Michigan where all we have is crummy Taco Bell. Does anyone know if there are any in Michigan?

We don't seem to have any around here.Instead there is one Taco Maker inRolling Oaks Mall on Loop1604 and Nacodoches Road.It was pretty tasty what I had.Not bad for fast food.Thought in some ways it was better than Taco Bell. Don't eat at these places much as here in the San Antonio and surrounding area we have lots of mexican places to go to.

Does anyone know if there are any in Michigan? Where in Michigan are you? A Del Taco just opened up this summer on Gratiot in the parking lot of Macomb Mall. The place is always packed, the food is really good and service fast! I guess there has been a Del Taco in Westland or something like that. John in Warren, MI

We have a Del Taco in our town, and I never visited, thinking that it was just like Taco Bell, or worse (I usually go to small family-owned Mexican places). After reading this thread, we went to Del Taco for dinner last night. I ordered the basic shredded beef taco, and it was really good! Two (two!) soft corn tortillas, and it tasted very similar to what I usually get at the local independent places. What's up with the french fries, though? Not what I usually see at Mexican restaurants. Anyway, thanks, all - I now have a decent fast-food choice for those times when I don't have time to get out of the car!

I have eaten at Del Taco only on a few occasions (in FL). I was quite surprised by the quality of the product served. This IS a chain that could put Taco Hell out of business. They have MY support!

Del Taco just opened in Janesville WI and last night I stopped there with one of my kids. Between us we had a regular hard taco, regular soft taco, chicken quesadilla with spicy jack cheese, and plain "Double Del" cheeseburger. All were decent and the burger had plenty of cheese, so from a FF standpoint it's an option for me. Brad
