Tamale Kitchen on West Mississippi in Lakewood, CO is not to be missed. It's about 5 miles outside of the city. Cheap but really good mexican. Try the pork tacos.

Many thanks to Roadfooders who (on another thread) recommended the Buckhorn Exchange in Denver. It's not cheap but it's one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time. We had delicious Rocky Mountain Oysters (not as scary as they sound!), elk steak, quail, and excellent garlic mashed potatoes. Even their homemade ranch dressing was excellent, as was their house cocktail (Jim Beam with apple juice!). It's right off of I-25 in case you're in a hurry.

Glad to hear you had a nice experience at the Buckhorn. I was one of the people who recommended it on an earlier thread, so it's nice to hear a report back that the recommendation was worthy. I'm happy to know the place is still living up to its reputation, as I haven't been there in quite a while.

            I'm glad you enjoyed it!
