Des Plaines Oasis Gone forever

Not exactly a place I'd miss for the food, but it was always my last stop to top off the rental car before going to O'Hare, will miss it...if I ever get back there again which is not very likely.

When I was a kid I always hoped a trip on the tollway would include an oasis stop, although for us the closest one was and still is Belvidere.  One of my mom's first jobs was waitressing at the Fred Harvey's there back in the '60s.

On my first trip to Chicago/Waukegan in 1990, even though we didn't stop on the Tri-State Tollway, liked the design of the Hinsdale oasis, being able to walk above the traffic & get to the other side.
