Cajun man, all the food companies have chopped onions in 5lb bags. I use them for large feedings. Hotdog feeds for 500 to 600 people, or turkey stuffing for 2000 people. The only things I have seen is there is a strong onion smell, and they are a bit wetter.................But all and all they work for me and I use the left overs in soups and meatloaf, chili........................They also have sliced onions available..........Bill P.S The 5 lb bag of chopped is $5.31 and a 50 lb bag of whole onions are $8.35.

Pre sliced onions have lost about 30% of their flavor if diced more than twenty four hours in advance. They lose about 10% of their water in the same amount of time. I find the bagged version to be an inferior product and would not use it. You might try using a wall hanging unit that cuts potatoes for fries. I have used them for tomatoes also but you still have to peel and slice the product you want to dice. Hope this helps.
