If you do go to the Hitching Post and should see Frank Ostini, (you almost can't miss him) tell him Michael from Dallas referred you. I was with him and his family in Tuscany a few years back with a Slow Foods group.

Somehow this one flew under the radar and I;m sorry I missed it. First, I've done whole threads here just about Santa Maria. I've even taken a Roadfood.com group up there for the weekend.
Besides, Bill, I would have enjoyed driving up and taking you around for a few hours. Next time!

Hi Ed, we flew into Santa Barbara, rented a car and got to Santa Maria early Saturday evening. It was a quick trip up there so Mollie could see her Mom. Sunday we went over to Pismo Beach, had lunch at the Cracked Crab, everyone like it.......Monday morning we shot over to Palm Desert, had a Pastrami at Shermans Deli. We left the next morning early so Mollie could spend some time in Quartzite Az, Rock hounds paradise, then another 150 miles to Scottsdale for 5 days....Spring break for Mollie, we covered some ground quick.............next time around my friend.........I'll tell you what, I will think of you when I have a Pastrami on Rye at Katz's deli in two weeks. This is what friends are for, I know you would do the same for me.........I'm thinking Chopped liver on the side..............pnwc

Chopped liver on the side? No............Chopped liver on top of the pastrami. At the Stage Deli on Fairfax in LA they used to call it the "Joey Bishop".

You did cover a lot of ground. I'll take that rain check!
