Thanks for the info. Based on the excellent reviews of Dinosaur's on Roadfood, I went ahead and ordered some of their sauces & rub. Looking forward to trying the goods - since I don't know when I'll get to New York to try the product direct.

Good for you.. I have several of their items.. I especially like the Mojito sauce, and the Creole Mustard. Not crazy on the BBQ bleu.. They sent me all their sauces one time, after I had ordered something and they were out of it..Kinda apologized and sent them as freebies for being out of stock, which I thought was cool and great marketing ploy. Here is one of their recipes for chicken with the mojito... http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/viewRecipe.php?r=1

I'll be in Syracuse this holiday season and plan on stocking up on some sauces and the rub -which isn't always in-stock at my "local" Wegman's. Which reminds me - for anyone within driving distance of a Wegman's, they carry nearly all of the sauces - so a trip to NY isn't necessary.

Well, I tried my Dinosaur sauces & rubs this past weekend. I absolutely love the rub! I put it on a cheap pork roast & threw it in the crock pot. 5 hours later it was fall apart tender. So I shredded it, added a bit more rub and tasted that way - YUM!!! Then I also sampled each of the 3 sauces I got, with the Habenero hot one being my fave. But my husband is a wimp - he prefered the slathering sauce. I think garlic sauce will be good on chicken. Anyways - thanks for the tip!

Hi, all: Went to Dinosaur in Harlem over the holidays and must report it was BBQ heaven for me. We took the "1" train from Manhattan and got off at 125th Street. Not the greatest neighborhood, but everything felt very mellow. It was a short walk to the Dinosaur. Just follow your nose. The restaurant is in an enormous warehouse, yet it was packed to the rafters. However, we had reservations and they seated us immediately. Our threesome ordered a variety of Q, but the ribs were the standout. The perfect consistency of "chew" with just a glaze of absolutely profound sauce. Each bite produced a meltdown of pork, sweetness and smoke that you hesitated to stop chewing and swallow because it was so satisfying. I left not a shred of meat on any bone. My half-slab came with two sides. I chose the beans and the fried rice. The latter was good, but the beans were "cowboy style" and among the best I've ever had, a magnificent and spicy partner for the ribs. We were doubtful about dessert because we were so full, but the ladies and I couldn't resist and shared a slice of key lime pie. Let me tell you, this was another high point. Unlike the usual key lime slice, this was more of a cross between a key lime pie and a coconut custard pie, producing a very thick filling of golden flavors, encased in a heavy crust that give it real heft. Very toothsome. Good coffee, too! Prices were extremely friendly. The service was top-notch. All in all, a wonderful experience. - Rusty

Went to Dinosaur a few days ago in harlem, wasn't impressed at all! Sauce & spiced heat robs the flavor of the meat and in my opinion the sides, I tried most of them were lousy! Ambience, service & mojitos were wonderful, food lacks! I agree prices were cost friendly.

After seeing the above posts, I went online and ordered some items from the menu. 1 chili, 1 pulled pork, 1 meatloaf and 1 pork tenderloin. So far....they are ok. I'm cutting them some slack since it is frozen and all. I hope to get to NY to try out one of the Restaurants....but if these samples are as good as it is....I need to go back into the business.

Do yourself a favor, get off your butt and go to one of their restaurants. The packaged food is subcontracted out, not cooked at a restaurant. I have enjoyed the packaged beans, ribs and pulled pork. Its very good for pre-made foods in your friendly grocery store but you owe it to yourself to try the real deal...

I would love to...but...I'm in TN. When I get the chance to head to NY I will stop and try them out. But if I was to just drive somewhere for BBQ...I'd head back to Austin and the Hill Country.
