Where did you read that? I feel badly as I cannot see how they can recapture the REAL Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse. Where else would you find waitress with gold stars in their teeth and tatoos everywhere. I wish them luck but cannot picture bikers in NYC sitting next to lawyers and picking away at barbeque bones!

On one hand -- as an NYC resident who happens to love the Dinosaur -- I'm very excited to hear this. On the other hand, I echo several of chezkatie's concerns although I believe one can certainly find a similar array of characters in NYC. On the third hand...there's such a place as 131st and 12th? If there is, then there's no doubt in my mind that they'll be able to find the right kinds of staff.

I just went to their website and found this:

    Dinosaur BBQ is heading uptown
    to 131st and 12th Ave.
    (across from Fairway Market)
    in NYC.

I know we will be going there to see what it is like. It is much closer for us, from Baltimore, not to have to go to Syracuse when we decide that we really need the Dinosaur "experience". And as anyone knows who has eaten here.........it is the whole thing that makes this a standout.

Oh boy will my cousins in NYC enjoy this. I just wonder how they'll be able to operate the smokers outside like they do upstate? The Big Apple meets Dinosaur, what a great combination.

Please send Pat...I nominate her as ambassador of obnoxisity.

I expect our office will send a lunch delegation from Syracuse to establish diplomatic ties with the NYC brethren....and knock back a few pitchers.

    Good Luck

Thanks, chezkatie. I go to that Fairway fairly often...I just never considered that avenue to be 12th, but I guess I'm wrong. See, you can keep learning things about the place you live, even after 18 years....

I'm trying to petition for a high speed train - we've had a lot of people express an interest in going down.

I might not be as obnoxious, but I'll still give you a run for your money...if it makes you feel at home. Just a FEW pitchers? You can do better than that!

By the way, Cosmos, thanks for having our back...

The Dinosaur Barbecue in Rochester sounds like it's just the kind of place that will provide me with an excuse to take the new high speed ferry that's scheduled to begin service across Lake Ontario from Toronto to Rochester in the summer of 2004!

Yes, that will indeed be an auto ferry! And a pretty impressive one too! See the pictures!

As a BBQ rib connoisseur, I'm itching to try this Dinosaur Barbecue place!
