Dirty water dogs

It seems like I remember someone saying they put a small amount of vinegar in the pan of the hotdogs and it keeps them from discoloring? Anyone else remember this? Also I have heard of some adding spices to the hot dog water, anyone in here do this?

I mix my Polish with my hot dogs in the same water pan. Some of the spicing from the Polish is absorbed in the water. Dogs discolor if kept in water too long. I wouldn't suggest adding vinegar. A customer with an acid reflex problem may have an allergic reaction. CSD Born in Chicago Raised in Chicago Moved to Wisconsin Selling Vienna Beef hot dogs and Polish
