If your friends wanted to jump off a cliff....? Stop that or your face will stay that way. You're going to go blind.... Birds of a feather... If it walks like a duck...

My Mother still says because I said so...and I am your Mother...that's why. My Father says she's the cat's Mother.

I said "I am not as stupid as you think I am" to my 9 year old and could almost hear my dad saying it to me years ago. He was right, not sure if I am.

BT "Finish your ______ (fill in the blank) because people in China are starving and would love to have it." I always told my mother that the starving children in China would prefer to starve rather than to have to eat her cooking. I was correct, but she never seemed to realize that.

My Mother also says this is the price she pays for all those highballs she drank at that wedding in September of 1968.

I can't wait until you have kids that act like you do. Wait until your father gets home. Don't sit so close to the TV. (Ha!) Stop playing with your food.

As a parent to an 8 year old . I can honestly tell you that I have not uttered any of the above with the exception of because I am the parent.

My advise to parents (though no one asked) is do NOT pick and choose your battles. Fight EVERY one of them, or the kids will overwhelm you and sneak in something you weren't expecting, and you'll "OK" something that you didn't mean too. As for my parents, they're gone now, Mom was 92, Dad was 96, and I can STILL hear him saying ... "Don't MAKE me come back there and _______________." Photto
