Does anyone remember Kenny King's?

When I was a child in Ohio in the early 70s I seem to recall a chicken place called Kenny King's. Does anyone else remember this, or am I going kooky? I recall it was kind of a KFC wannabe...

Yeah, he was an Oiler, too. And I think he played for New Engalnd as well.

I-95- most impressive. You must be a huge hit at cocktail parties. You are invited when I make the veleveta fudge.

Holy crap !!!! Clothier, it's me, Julie Carlson !! Finally, my "i95" beard is removed. So, how're you doing? Me? I've gained 370 pounds since then of which 260 pounds is this growth in the center of my back which features both primordial teeth and hair. Say...what are you doing this weekend?

No, but I recall Allan Sherman. Surely, you remember:

"Seventy-six Sol Cohens in the country club,
And a hundred and ten men named Levine."

Truly, Allan was the 'Weird Al' Yankovic of the Camelot-era. Oy!

I'm just kidding. It's really me, Janis Ian. Although I wasn't kidding about the 260-pound growth. Now, if I could only get it to sing harmony with me to "At Seventeen" then maybe, just maybe I could make a come back.

By the way, KS, I'm working on a virtual version of me doing this dance performance (but to the tune of "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" by the GAP Band*) similar to the computer-generated dancing baby made popular in the 1990s. Look for my upcoming spam e-mail message announcing such (it will be disguised as a Viagra ad).

    * Speaking of the GAP Band, anyone ever heard the 1980s band Love Tractor do their version of "Party Train" ? It was awesome !!

Kenny Kings was also closed down for various repeated food prep violations. The nail in the coffin was the seasoned, battered & deep fried field mouse.

    Tsk. tsk. tsk.

Kenny kings was the first seller of colonel sanders kentucky fried chicken. we had one by our house in willowick...near cleveland. Kenny kings was a sit down restaurant/diner type place. The owners sold it and all the rights to colonel sanders and the new owners made a franchise outa it. They bulldozed the old restaurant and built a KFC in its spot. I used to like it as a restaurant. Avoid it as a fast food place though

I remember Kinny King's even better because I worked at their headquarters on Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio. They were located on the 13th floor of the Williamson Bldg - one of the few buildings on Public Square with a 13th floor. I worked in the accounting dept. every other quarter from 1960 through 1963. The alternate quarters were spent at Cleveland State (originally Fenn College)working on my degree in Accounting. And, Kenny King's is where I met Colonel Saunders, who introduced me to Jack Daniels (the whiskey, not the person). Those were the good old days!!!

When I was in Parma in the late 80's Kenny Kings was KFC> The carry-out was chicken olny while the dining room was open 24 hours and had a full menu including breakfast all day.

Kinda like a Dennys inside but smaller.

You and me both! I spent '62-'67 in Euclid and we passd by that Kenny King's several times a month. Never went in it, though. We didn't get into takeout fried chicken until we discovered Golden Skillet in VA in '69.

And yes, I thought "Kenny King" was the white bearded guy's name too.

Oh, and EUCLID RACE DAIRY was th BEST!

I remember it also, but ours was in Parma near Ridge and Pearl, which isn't that far from where Drew Carey grew up. My family still refers to KFC as Kenny King's. I have since moved away and had to learn KFC because no one had any clue what I was talking about.
