Domino's Pizza "You Got 30 Minutes" Ads Sat, 01/5/08 1:09 PM (permalink)
Fifteen years after Domino's ended their 30 minute delivery time guarantee, they are starting a "You Got 30 Minutes" ad campaign. Just a heads up that this is not a guarantee. It means about as much as "You Got Toothpicks in Your Pantry". They will probably hoodwink some people who think the old guarantee came back. Of course, in 1993, there were no www Internet message boards to blow the whistle on these cheeky marketing campaigns.

From the Domino's disclaimer: "Because safety is a priority "You Got 30 Minutes™" is not a guarantee but an estimate."

Back in around 1985 or 1986 a writer's organization to which I belong held its annual conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The keynote speaker was unable to keep from commenting on the fact that a group of nationally known writers was meeting in a state whose slogan, as proclaimed on its license plates was, "You've Got A Friend In Pennsylvania."

Mr. Hoffman... Are you trolling the Dominos website now? Would be fun if they did have a forums section, most of us here would get the boot..

No. I was curious after reading David's post and took a look. I'd not heard about their new 30-minute thing.

There are a few threads over at tipthepizzaguy.com about the new 30 minute promotion. Some posters there reported that Domino's even prepared training materials for employees encountering hostile customers who thought there was a 30 minute guarantee. Reading between the lines, you may be able to collect something if you call up the manager and rant and rave about being dissatisfied. Get the postcard from the driver upon a late delivery. So Domino's knows full well they may causing confusion in the minds of some people. This is another great opportunity for those people who get their jollies "working the system".

If you are dissatisfied with DP service or food, you could always call the store and the manager will make it right. That policy was printed on every box sent out. I may not be happy with the way I was let go, but I have to defend the integrity of the guarantee.
