Dory Cove Burns

Sadly, the Dory Cove in Lincoln City, Oregon, listed in the Roadfood books and on the site, has completely burned and it is unsure if the long-standing owners will rebuild.

Wow! This really saddens me. I just ate there this past summer for the first time and had a really good meal. Here is hoping they do decide to rebuild.

This is truly awful news. Dory Cove was one of the best places to eat on the central Oregon coast and I will miss it. The Stern's review was proudly displayed at the cash register and the staff who worked there were proud the place had won national recognition. I feel for those who did not get a chance to eat there becasue it was a roadfood gem.

Has anyone heard anything new on Dory Cove? I was really hoping that they were going to rebuild.

Checked the website and no further info about reopening. I m doubtful of reopening simply because the owner is an older gent and has no family in the Lincoln City area who want to run the place.

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't sound to good about them reopening. Too bad!

I just spoke with the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce today about Dory Cove, and here is the report I got. A new restaurant, Capt. Ron's Seafood & Chowder House will be opening around the middle of May at 2981 SW Hwy 101 in Lincoln City, in the same building as Mr. Bill's Village Smokehouse. I hear that this is the chef and some of the employees from Dory Cove, and that he is being allowed to use the chowder recipe from Dory Cove!! Not the same, but hopefully the chowder will be as good!

When I hear the name Captain Ron's, I can't help but think of Kurt Russell with an eyepatch. Despite the terrible name, this restaurant might be worth checking out once it opens if they are using recipes from Dory Cove.

I've heard that Captain Ron's is open as of TODAY - May 21, 2007.

The story I heard is that the name of the place is to give the Chef (Ron - who was always behind the scenes in the kitchen at Dory Cove) a little recognition.

What's in a Name as long as the Food is Good!!!?
