Do's and Don'ts on a date at a restaurant
Fri, 02/11/11 3:45 PM
( permalink)
I heard this topic being discussed on a radio show this morning. Do's: Wear a shirt with a collar (for the men), Sit down after date is seated, Don't's: Answer a cell phone, text, floss, complain about a tip, talk to the people at the next table, check your make-up...

So what's wrong with flossing at the table?

Don't tuck the tablecloth in to your pants to use as your own personal napkin.

It's too late for me to get any tips on dating. The only things I've not done are answer a cell phone and text. Thought I'd take up sexting though.

I'd give some tips on dating, but I'm afraid they'd date me. Bart

Don't wear a baseball cap on the date, but if you do, take it off while at the table. Flossing should be allowed in Pittston Pa. Even if she looks lonely, do not ask your old girlfriend, who is sitting at the bar alone, to join you. That is a no-no. Check, before entering, to make sure the joint takes credit cards and that yours is paid up to date.

Chewy your a bad boy. Go stand in the corner. Joe, I think you should be allowed to floss in Pittston. But don't take the teeth out to do it.

Don't eat the crumbs off of the table when you drop them. Do not take the packets of sweetener home with you. Don't park three blocks away to save the $2 valet price.

Keep at least one foot on the floor during the meal. If you must bring a camera to the table, photograph your date and not the food as it is delivered.

I don't take the packets of sweetner, but I do take the jams, jellies, & honey from Cracker Barrel & Bob Evans. I especially like the sugar free grape jelly at Bob Evans.

Don't go to a buy one, get one free restaurant. Not until the third date. You have a coupon for that? Leave it in your pocket.

It's been 45 years since my last date. Do girls still have to stand up when their dates leave the table and return?

I am not sure why any outstanding lady would want to date me but fortunately Iwannago does. Why? I am not sure but I am fortunate that she does as she is a extremely attractive woman with outstanding skills as a BSRN, MBA, a psych major and great people skills. Happy Valentine's day to this woman that I have been fortunate to meet since my wifes demise. She will be with me tomorrow along with my daughter, son in law, two grandboys and my mother at a restaurant of their choice (P.F. Changs) for my 69th birthday dinner. I am getting much older but hopefully, I am getting somewhat better?? Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Don't wrap your hands completely around the end of the knife and fork and make MMMMMMMMM noises while chewing. Also try not to use the sleve of your shirt as a napkin. Under no circumstances does one ask the table nearby, for a taste of their dessert. Refrain from grabbing an onion ring, if the waitress walks by with someones order. Don't pay in Ones. Don't plant foreign objects, like a shoe, in your soup, and claim it came that way. Loud laughter with a stuffed mouth is not a good idea. Vigorously picking your nose on a first date, before the first course, is a deal killer. Singing the entire 100 bottles of beer on the wall song, will yield disasterous results.

While chewing your current bite of food, don't have your next bite on the fork and in the air waiting for mouth insertion. Don't talk about what you had the last time you were there with someone else.

mar52 No? Even if it's Bananas Foster? That's a deal breaker for me. You just can't leave all that good rum and melted ice cream on the dish.

Talking with your mouth full shows you are ambidextrous. Mar, sop it up with a piece of bread, then lick it before you stick it in your mouth.
