Double Italian Hot Dog

It's cold and windy today and I wanted something different than the usaual chilidog.
 
I stopped in at Zuka's Hot Grill in Toms River, NJ and got a Double Italian Hot Dog.
 
I don't have much knowledge about Italian Hot Dogs, but I thought I'd give it a try.
 
I think their combination of potatoes, fried onions, peppers, mustard and deep fried hot dogs was the very good and filling.
 
I had the hot dog at 2pm and still full at 7pm
 
I have no problem recommending it.
 

 
 
They have a very good chilidog.

  Is that a stock picture, or, an actual photo of the Double Italian Hot Dog you later imbibed? If the latter, it looks like a genuine example of the noble breed of dog.

The picture was taken 3 minutes before I started eating it.

All my framed pictures are of the actual hot dog that either I took or I have asked for permission to use. Many pictures are emailed to me.

I did learn a great trick with this picture. I live 5 minutes away and Zuka's was busy, so I took the Italian hot dog home to photograph. I put it on a white plate and on a off white counter top. This gives a better view of the hot dog.

Nice picture John,how does the double Italian hotdog compare to Jimmy Buffs, and is their chili more towards a meaty flavor or similar to the cinnamon / nutmeg flavor that some of the passaic county texas weiner joints use.

I haven't had Jimmy Buffs Italian Hot Dog.

I like his chili so much I get the chilidogs.

As for their chili, it's very tasty and I don't get a cinnamon / nutmeg taste.

Cinnamon & nutmeg are not my favorite taste, so most chilis have it in it, it can't be over powering for me.

I enjoy Zuka's chili.

I know Lynn from Zuka's follows Roadfood and maybe she can explain her chili.

Jimmy Buff's chili is Bolognese sauce.  Very good!!! 

Our Zuka's Texas Wiener Sauce has cinnamon and no nutmeg.... Yes () you are right. It is more like the sauces found in Passaic County (Goffle Grill in Hawthorne) because that was our favorite until we moved to the Jersey Shore area 3.5 years ago.... Now of course, Zuka's is our favorite. . We do have a meater chili as well, with a little more of a hit. People love it and have it on their dogs as well as by the cup.

I enjoy a meatier spicier chili (NO BEANS) on my hot dogs.  I have not been to Zuka's but will have to venture there some time.
As of right now my favorite spicy meat hot dog chili in New Jersey is from Father and Son.  New York would have to be from Hot Dog Charlie's in Cohoes, NY AKA Albany/ Troy area.
I have yet to try an Italian Dog, when I visited Jimmy Buff's I had his push cart dog with chili.  His chili is actually a Bolognese sauce which is very good as mentioned.

I'm not too far away, I may have to take a ride over there sometime soon.
