Driving from Palm Desert, CA to Williams AZ

Hi, I am planning a trip for our family, 2 adults and 2 kids that will be 3 and 6.  Where can we stop between Palm Desert and Williams for a lunch break?  I can't wait to try out old style diners and anything with American dining.  Any suggestions?  The town of Kingman stands out as a good stopping point, is there anything there we should try?

I suggest going by way of Oatman AZ, Just East of Bullhead City before getting to Williams. It's about 3.5 hours of interesting driving from Palm Desert. Sits right on Olde Route 66!
The kids will love it! There are live, tame Burros wandering around town left there from the Mining days. The restaurant at The 110 Year Old Oatman Hotel is a treat. The hotel was where Clark Gable & Carole Lombard ALLEGIDY spent their Honeymoon night. Old Town, lots of History. Great way to break up the trip for the kids.
