Dunkin' Donuts new fare

http://sev.prnewswire.com/restaurants/20050103/CGM00803012005-1.html I heard of a new twist on above product today on radio. They were advertising grilled sirlion, marinated mushrooms, & swiss cheese on a bagel. They pegged it as a new "breakfast" offering but said it would be available 24/7. Sounded good to me. Anyone else heard 'bout this?

If this new sandwich is as "good" (and I use that term with some hesitation) as most of the rest of their fare, then I would hesitate to try it. After learning that many of their locations have their doughnuts and bagels transported there on the filthy back seats of employees' cars (this was the subject of a TV report), and after tasting the coffee in many of their locations, it will be quite a while before I decide to patronize this chain again. When I wrote to people on the corporate level about the putrid coffee at several DD locations, I did not even get the courtesy of a response!

Being a retired police officer I have consumed a lot of their coffee and always thought that it was very good except that they served it in cardboard cups. Hate those cups

To expand a bit on my earlier comment about DD's coffee--I believe that a lot has to do with the local franchisee. Since it is possible to buy DD's ground coffee to use in my home coffee maker, I have done that--and gotten very good results. However, I honestly have not had a decent cup of coffee at any of their "stores" for perhaps as long as the last 4 years. My theory is that the franchisees are "cheaping out" by using too much water and too little ground coffee in their machines. If I am on the road and I want a good cup of coffee without paying Starbucks' ridiculous prices, I try to find a Panera Bread location. Panera's coffee is very good, and you don't have to take out a second mortgage on your home to buy a large cup of it--unlike Starbucks!

I've had the sandwich. I'm there all the time to get coffee for my sweetie, and I had a coupon. For a microwaved sandwich made with prefab components, I have to admit that it is not bad. Sorry

I'll admit, I'm a coffee snob, I only go to the local coffee houses, unfortunately many of the local coffee houses here in Rhode Island are also really bad, however there are a few...read....very few, select good ones. After living in Seattle during the pre McStarbuck years I've gotten very spoiled.

I wonder if they will have a "Munchkin" version of the bagel hole, like with donuts. Order up a dozen and such....
