East Coasters: Ready for Hurricane Sandy??

Hi Roadfooders...
I guess this is the big one...and here in Ocean County NJ, we might be right at ground zero. Irene did nothing to us last year, but I have bad feelings here. Stay dry and safe. My prayers go out to all of you.

Prayers for you and your family as well. Be safe.

As ready as we can be. Not many trees to fall...and a big one fell during Irene.

Evacuations on the Staten Island side of water...but not here.

I picked the last of the peppers from the garden and dug up and potted my rosemary, thyme and parsley. Something I don't usually do this early but I was afraid nothing would be salvageable. Took the dog for a walk at 7:20 and had to use a flashlight! the wind is so scarey! I love all the beautiful huge old trees we have in this area but this morning I was afraid of them!

I agree agnesrob.....when it sounds like a freight train outside, the wind is definitely howling! I'm going to put off taking my dog out until she's crossing her legs...then I know it will be a quick trip!! Be safe, Roadfooders!

Here in central Massachusetts ... most of the wind is coming from the weather people standing in front of a map, that almost misses our area entirely ... but still trying to excite us to go out and buy water, etc.  (If the storm misses us, they have to wait until next time so they can update their resume tapes.)

I'm pretty far inland, but I pulled out the generator at work and got everything ready just in case we lose power. I'm not worried about flooding or not being able to get around. Some people here are already freaking out (and we're smack dab in the center of NY, away from the worst of it), and it makes me wonder what they'd ever do if things got really bad.

My Sister just lost power in Matawan already.. With Irene it was 5 days without power.

These warnings are warnings we've never experienced. As long as the big bunch of kids in my house understand that this is serious....and they are not going anywhere...it's ok.

My thoughts for your safety, and know full well what your experiencing, having been through Katrina and most recently Isaac.  At least here our hurricanes are in the warmer months.

Very surprised to wake up and we still have power. The wind is really howling out there. Hang in there everyone!

We still have power here, which is almost always a surprise if there's any breeze. Winds here are out of the northwest at 29 mph, with 37 degrees and very light snow.

I feel for my friends in NOVA:  I even hope those tall trees overhanging the Arlington, VA house I "gave" my ex-wife stay in place.

We're happy. There's enough snow for me to have to use a broom and a scraper to get the car cleared off for my Waffle House visit this morning. Please let it snow again on Friday, the opening day of pheasant season.

Syracuse, NY has a light drizzle and little wind in my part of town, been the same since late last night. Looks like we dodged the worst of it.

    Canoe blew away.

I do, however, now own an indoor pool...and if anyone needs firewood, I have a large new inventory.

Here is a slideshow from my neighborhood in Rye.  No water damage.  Pumpkin picking season ended yesterday, and firewood picking season starts today.
