Eat a banana with... WHAT?? Whats yours?

One of my grandzillas, he is 15, puts a moistened flour tortilla in in the micro for 20 secs, spreads it with peanut butter and honey, then wraps it around a banana. I had a bite, pretty good! Anyone else have wild ways to eat a banana? Joe

I've been eating peanut and banana sandwiches for probably 40 years ever since my grandfather made one for me. I have never had one on a tortilla though I might give it a shot. There is a restaurant in Omaha that has a peanut butter and banana omelette on the menu called a Skibana. They do wonderful omelettes I just have never had the nerve to try this one.

My mom used to serve mashed bananas with white bread for dipping - kind of like pita and hummus. I liked it until I saw her making it one day when I was about 6. She mashed the bananas, added a bunch of sugar and a bunch of mayo and mixed it up. I have mayo phobia- never ate that again!

I eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches on whole wheat all the time. I prefer it to PB&J. Unless there is fresh white bread around, which is not purchased too often.

I like to take the banana and just spread peanut butter on it. However, I like them best dipped in hot fudge, or melted chocolate.

First, let me make it clear that the combination that I am about to relate is NOT one that I would eat, but I thought that I would report it anyway. Many years ago, I worked with a women whose favorite combination at lunch was sauerkraut and a banana! No, that is not a joke or a misprint. In the school cafeteria, on days when they served hot dogs and sauerkraut, she would order a monkey dish of just sauerkraut, and consume this with a fork, while alternating bites of a banana that she brought with her. Otherwise she was a fairly normal (okay, she was Obsessive-Compulsive), and this quirk in her dietary preferences used to drive many people to distraction. Strange, yes?

Oh yeah, I forgot - love 'em with Wheat or Multi-Bran Chex, too. Ooh - that walnuts, cream and brown sugar sounds good. I'll have to try that one.

Adventuresome yes. Gross combos No. If you have made sauerkraut, try braising it with caraway seed, white wine and beer. Add a pork roast or sausages or a duck. Leave out the banana. Save it for breakfast.

Jennifer - that combo does sound great - never thought of that! Have to try it. Having my banana now with Cheerios - it has to be constructed properly, though. Cereal, then sliced banana, then pour the milk, then top it with sugar so it sticks to the fruit. As for the strange way: My mother in law gave me a meatloaf recipe with a ripe mashed banana. It is truly excellent - I don't make it any other way now. If anyone wants to be adventurous, I can dig up the recipe! Sue

I though my mom was the only one who ate bananas with milk in a bowl! I mash them up and put them in pancakes, then serve with Light Karo Syrup instead of Maple.

I like to slice an orange in half and cut out wedges with a grapefruit knife, then dump the orange pieces and juice in a bowl and add sliced bananas. With a bagel with cream cheese on the side, it's one of my favorite breakfasts. Our girl scout troop used to pull up but not remove a strip of peel about 3/4" wide from a banana, hollow out some of the flesh, and fill the cavity with chocolate chips, miniature marshmallows and some cut-up maraschino cherries. Then we'd put the strip of peel back down to cover the opening, wrap in foil, spear on a stick and toast over the fire until the chocolate and marshmallow softened. Campfire banana splits!

You can play around with these 3 ingredients, adjust the ratio of each one to suit your taste, they work really well together: Banana - very ripe and roughly chopped and/or mashed Cottage Cheese Mango Chutney I find it's best to fairly well mix the banana and Cottage Cheese, then just kind of marble the cheese with chutney. Pile it ridiculously high into a split and toasted Wholemeal Roll. Awesome breakfast.

We aren't much into a regular Breakfast meal, but today was one day when we decided to try a new (to us) recipe for our French Toast. We had seen Paula Dean do this on her show and printed the recipe. It turned out quite good. BANANA-PECAN STUFFED FRENCH TOAST Using Hawaiian bread from the Kroger and a milk/egg-dip, Janet stuffed the 'Sandwiches' with semi-mashed Banana and Pecan pieces and a light sprinkle of nutmeg. She then dipped the 'sandwich' into the egg-dip, then fried it in the usual french Toast manner. Served with Maple Syrup and Butter... and powdered sugar if you have it (we didn't). It was really good, and a few slices of good Bacon made it Great! The Maple Syrup was a door prize from the recent Meet and Eat Glee Club Session. Thanks Fred!!

- By themselves;
- in cereal (and I like the freeze-dried ones found in some cereals); or
- on white bread with Hellman's and crunchy peanut butter.
If I'm feeling particularly self-destructive, I like crunchy peanut butter and real butter on white bread!

This works for all fruit, and I think it tastes better than jellies and jams. I slice bananas, or strawberries, real thin and I layer them on top of peanut butter toast. If I use blueberries, I put them on without slicing (obviously). grapes and apples work, but not as well IMO. It is really MUCH better than jelly or jam. Tom

I like the banana and mayo on white or wheat sandwich bread. Or in fruit salad with apples, pineapple, marichino cherries, bananas, pecans, a dash of sugar, drizzle of lemon juice, and mayo to stick it all together. But the bananas must be tinged with green with NO brown spots at all. Otherwise, they are too sweet. Alice

My granny use to make the best fried bananna pies. We begged her to make them for us. Haven't had them for over 20 years and still can taste them.

I rice fresh strawberries until pulped, then stir in sugar for my desired sweetness level. To this mixture I add a few sliced bananas. I enjoy it as is, over vanilla ice cream or over shortbread.
