Sugarkube, my brother was passing through Waco with some friends and they stopped there. I travel between Dallas and Austin every couple of months, so I'm interested if you find anything in the Waco area. I've been making that trip for 24 years and haven't found much! There is a hamburger place called "Health Camp" on the circle in Waco that's pretty good. The Elite ("Elvis ate here") used to be good, also on the circle, but haven't been back since their renovation. The Texas Roadhouse is not bad for "cheap" steaks. Again on the circle. I have to admit in all my travels through Waco has been just that, through, and not into and exploring Waco. Looks like we successfully hijacked this thread!

Diamond Backs (217 Mary St. Riverside Center) is probably the best you can do.

(I messed up before...try this again ) Thanks so much Maynerd and bookem!! I took notes and we'll try all you mentioned. We just went to The Texas Roadhouse last week, and it was pretty good! Like I said, not sure what I'm after, but something delicious, lol. People have suggested places here, and we are always somewhat disappointed. We do have a couple Mexican and Chinese places we love. Also....dare I say....The Golden Corral- if you like buffet. So, yes, Maynerd, we are on a roll here Do you work in Dallas or Austin? Great places! Actually, we live outside Waco.

Not much has been said about San Antonio, the fair city I am from! Just south of downtown are some new, interesting restaurants: China Latina at 1014 S. Alamo (chinese fare) and Azuca Nuevo Latino at 713 S. Alamo - they describe themselves, "The idea of our Restaurant was inspired by a desire to unite the cuisine, service and atmosphere of the Caribbean, Central and Latina America with all of its glamour and vitality in one place". I frequent these restaurants as they are near my workplace, I recommend them! http://www.azuca.net/welcome.asp On another note, if you're looking for "American art", you can't go wrong with the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, they have masterpieces by legendary Western artists Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell among other collections. In fact Fort Worth has many fabulous museums: http://www.fortworth.com/01visitors/0106museums/0106museums.shtml Enjoy your trip, y'all! ~Beth

It's funny how these threads take on a life of their own, morphing from one form into another, and another, and ... I wonder how many of the recent contributors to this string know of the classic highs and lows of "forum" emotion represented by this topic? But for me the biggest question of all is still unanswered, "Did Aida ever eat at even one of the hundreds (thousands?) of recommendations she received?" I'm betting that the reason we lost her heart was that the answer is "No". jm

I've not had time to read all 6 pages so I'll be brief and mention a great place I ate in Houston this week called Jason's Deli. I think there are more of these but the service was good, the food was good and the menu itself was good. Good roadfood. carl reitz

We just got out our first here in Melbourne a few months ago. It is OK, but not mom and pop roadfood. Chances are you can find a place in the Houston area. The ones listed are just in Houston proper, but they are in the 'burbs, too. http://www.jasonsdeli.com/ 5403-D FM 1960 West Houston, Texas 77069 281-444-7515 Fax: 281-444-2490 Map Back to Top 10915 FM 1960 West Houston, Texas 77070 281-970-5044 Fax: 281-970-4844 Map Back to Top 2530 University Blvd. Houston, Texas 77005 713-522-2660 Fax: 713-522-3112 Map Back to Top 2611 South Shepherd Square Houston, Texas 77098 713-520-6728 Fax: 713-520-5902 Map Back to Top 10321-A Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77024 713-467-2007 Fax: 713-467-3593 Map Back to Top 5860 Westheimer Houston, Texas 77057 713-975-7878 Fax: 713-975-7276 Map Back to Top 14604 Memorial Houston, Texas 77079 281-531-1999 Fax: 281-493-1999 Map Back to Top 5215 West 34th Houston, Texas 77092 713-956-0122 Fax: 713-956-0302 Map Back to Top 7010 N Hwy 6 Houston, Texas 77095 281-858-7500 Fax: 281-858-7501 Map Back to Top 901 McKinney @ Main Houston, TX 77002 713-650-1500 Fax: 713-650-0200 Map Back to Top

Looks like there are plenty Jason's to choose from so it should be easy to find one. We used to eat at a place called 'The Madeline'(not sure on the spelling)...really good & unique setting Do you have those in Melbourne? btw~ I've been to Melbourne, years & years ago. My best friend's older sister lives there.

I sure wish Aida would have completed her report. I was really looking forward to it at the time. I emailed her not long after, but never heard back.

Well, I feel for ya, but people come and go in this internet world. Maybe her computer is down or anything could have happened. Sometimes people leave AOL and are never heard from again, lol. Try her again!

Thanks for the reply, though. I don't know any good places other than what was already mentioned. Look back on some of these posts! There are wing places here, but nothing to compare to the '3BWW' ...anyone know what I mean - LOL. in Ohio & excellent! Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm sure they're around, in fact I think I heard maybe even close by, but I haven't seen one yet. Hmmmmmm....I need to get on the stick Like you, I've just been busy with other things, too.
