I hate them, you spend hours[maybe seconds], waving your hand around trying to find the electronic eye. On toilets, especially in airports, you have to walk completely away before they flush...most of the time. If your the next person in line, you don't want to use an unflushed toilet, hence the arm wave, hell you could be mistaken for Sen. Larry Craig sending secret signals to like minded fellows. As far as the faucets are concerned, they stay on long enough to soap your hands and get a few drops to wash off, hence the elbow wave/flap. I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for a week, try brushing your teeth with a drip in your right arm and a faucet that turns off after 10 seconds, many left hand waves. All in all another frustration in the name of cost cutting . Bring back the flush, I can use my foot to activate, and a faucet that stayes on till turned off, the water consumption cannot be that different and if it is I figure I'm paying for it no matter where I encounter them. What's your opinion?
Ps. I realize the upside on the toilets is the automatic flush that eliminates the previous users Avatar!

I totally disagree.  I dispise touching anything in a public restroom where thousands have touched faucets and comode handles with how many unwashed hands?  Who knows how much feces are on the handle of the comode and wash faucets.

I do not ever touch the door knobs on restrooms because the same is prevalent there.  I use anything to open the door besides my hands.

I agree with you, that's why I use my foot to push the flusher and a paper towel to turn on a faucet in a public rest room, not in hospitals though, they have hand disinfectants everywhere.

I do not care where it is at and particularly the hospitals.  Even if they have hand disenfectents, that does  not matter.  People are people and you know your own habits.

I would think that hospitals would be much worse as they have diseased folks there with God only knows what?

I travel a lot as I suspect many on this forum does.  I am very picky regarding rest rooms.  I never ever use fast food, rest stops and other places of rest.  I try to pick one of my favorite hotels where the risk is somewhat reduced.  I still employ major handwashing techniques.

          I couldnt agree more!!

Ya bend over and it flushes,etc... THE ORIGINAL WAY IS THE BEST!!

The idiots who dont flush are the reason these things exist i think!

I dont mind touching things AS I ALWAYS WASH MY HANDS AFTERWARDS!!

I like the automatic sinks, toilets and papertowel dispensers...now if only they would make the door open out so I don't have to touch rhe handle when I leave.

I have no problem with them
Except that my brother has automatic lights in his guest bathroom.  I have to remember that it's "just" the lights.

I'll share my modern technology bathroom story. On a department store project I had designed, I learned our consulting engineers weren't coordinated with each other. The plumbing engineer had selected electronic fixtures and didn't bother to tell the electrical engineers down the hall, so there was no power planned for the fixtures. Luckily it was caught before it was bid, but in the meeting, the client remembered this story from one of their other stores:

A lady goes into the bathroom, selects a stall and goes about her business. The room had motion sensors to control the lighting and the timing was a bit quick. As she was sitting, she was going through her purse looking for something and the lights went out. Startled, she stood up, dropped her car keys in the toilet and the automatic sensor flushed the toilet...true story.
