    No offense taken...
And it was  cute that you were "surpriZed" at my punctuation..

I'm actually GLAD that you called me out on it...
Cause I was surprised, as well!  I had always taken pride in being a good speller...     and I really had thought I had spelled "didn't" and "wasn't" the correct way.  But apparently I was getting RUSTY!
(and since I did it with 2 different words,  it does'nt come across as a typo, either!)  And it WASN'T! (I had to be careful; I almost just typed "was'nt"!)

I wasnt trying to call it out.  It just caught my eye.  I kept looking at it trying to figure out why it didnt look right.  I have arthritis really bad in my wrists and mistype letters constantly.  Im a lazy proofreader as well.  Some of the stuff I put out looks pretty hairy.

          It's all about the food!

I make typos all of the time.  No big deal.  It's content that's important and Ellen does a great job.

Thanks Ann, nice hearing from you...

MAR52: In this case, it was'nt even a typo; can't even blame it on a typo...............I needed a refresher course...
            it's "didn't" , not "did'nt"....

Ellen, I think it should be did'n't! And from p1, saying that you don't know steak is like saying... hmm I can't think of anything else that silly.

LOL Ellen. I am an expert on seefood... see food = eat it! Oh... Seafood.@$^*#

Hey, they have had a whole day of food shows on the Travel Channel today. And yes... Peter's was on the steak show. Man did those look good! WOW!!!

It's fried foods right now. I have been watching since early morning. I have seen most of these shows many times but I pick up something new every time. Kinda like watchin Forest Gump.

Oh, it's gone from food to the WPT championship. I'd kinda like to win that someday. 25k buy in... I'm available if anyone would like to steak me. :~)

Ellen, if everyone here chipped in a dollar... maybe we could raise 30k for our 3 WSOP buy ins?

More steak shows on the TC this am. Gene & Georgetti in Chicago on now. 1300 degree ovens make the "char". mmmmmmm!

That's what I love, Papa Joe, that 1300 degree oven char!
It's way UNLIKE this uninspiring steak I had the other night, in the new ENGINE 15 Pub, Egg Harbor City, NJ
(not to be confused with my hometown EHT, 10 miles or so away)
ENGINE 15 Pub,  NY Steak $17.95

I sent it back to get cooked a little more, hoping for a more charbroiled, crusty look.... just my own personal tastes....  and the steak had a decent NY Steak flavor, but just not my type of preparation...

the new improved version was'nt much better, so I just took my $17.95 loss on it.   I did'nt think anything was really wrong with the quality of the steak itself

I enjoyed my caesars salad, though, ($5.95 extra) and the bread basket..

The owner was so nice, and I hope they do good there..
It's owned by a former casino host, who teamed up with a retired Newark firefighter, who liked gambling in the casinos...that's where they met...
I also had the homemade chicken fingers....they pride themselves on "not just throwing something into the fryer!!"  , not processed, it's homemade!
they were tasty , but more like little strips of Italian chicken cutlets...

It was just such an uninspiring steak, (for my tastes);  it tasted like it was made on one of those $5.00 throwaway grills that you buy in the supermarket....

Yep Ellen, no char on that steak.

Sounds great Ann! I'm into 1lbers. I'm fixin to watch the Man vs Food guy do the 4.5 lber at the BIG Texan.

That 1300 degree char is awsome but hard to find. There are some hot open pits that can do a good char job also.

I googled the 5 OClock Club, and came up with this succulent piece of meat...
                                I want it right now!!!

I see it was in the OnMilwaukee.com site today! I enjoyed reading the readers comments, as well...

So , perhaps we'll be "meating up" over a butter burger AND a steak now, Ann!
Your city sounds like a nice meat town........I may have to do an "Ellen's Steak Tour of Milwaukee".... sounds like a good makings of a trip report, huh?!?

                                      Hi Cathy (WILLIAMSBURGER),
So nice to hear that my reports are entertaining for you!
Went to Williamsburg about 5 or so years ago, doing the Busch Gardens thing with sis and family..
also did Virginia Beach on my own a few times...could'nt really find enough good Roadfood places to eat at....I guess I had bad luck, or?..
If I'm ever down there again, I'll look you up...

We'd love to play "native guide"!

Depending on your expectation for "roadfood" is is kinda difficult. Both VB and W'burg are tourist towns and therefore the lowest common denomenator in cooking rules - i.e. chains! There are places that the SO and I like to eat - many more ethnic than regional - and there are the really high end places. If you want to eat "regionally" you end up at the Williamsburg Taverns (touristy, but can be good), the Williamsburg Inn, Trellis, Blue Talon, Fat Canary or Vintage Tavern (all expensive). If you like BBQ there are a couple of places we like - Savannah Joe's (formerly Smokin' Joe's) and County Grill. And then there is seafood. Seafood can be really hit or miss. The fishing grounds have been devastated and many restuarants rely on farm-raised or imported seafood. We'd probably have to leave W'burg for the best.

                                      Cathy

Ellen, I sure have to agree with you about that steak from Engine 15 Pub; it doesn't look all that appealing. Besides being way underdone for my tastes, it has , for lack of a better word, a rather "lifeless" look to it. A pale exterior with no char-crust - it just does nothing for me. I'm less than two weeks away from my first visit to Doe's Eat Place in MS, and, based on its' rep, I'm anticipating a really a**-kickin' steak. Sure hope I don't come away disappointed ( yeah, I know - very unlikely! )

As always, a great report with insight. Good luck on the weight loss.
