TRULY ELLEN HAVE A HAPPY HAPPY---NOW,FESS UP AS TO WHAT YOU CHOSE AS YOUR REPAST DE JOUR TO CELEBRATE THIS MILESTONE DAY---I AM SURE KEN AND I ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH A NEED TO KNOW !!!!!
ALL BEST AND HAPPY HAPPY--RUSS
You're making me FESS UP, huh ?!?! I can't get away with anything on here; you guys "on" to me, lol...
Well, alright, at the risk of taking some heat, I WILL fess up on where I went for dinner...
I will put in a disclaimer that it's not a Roadfood joint...
but I made it feel like one , cause the closest one is 40 miles north of me !
Well, HERE GOES !
Yes, Charlie Brown's Steakhouse...
Ken, I know YOU'VE GOT to be familiar with this place, of course....
49 locations in NJ, NY and CT...
My mom (RIP) used to love going there; we had a few locations near us in north Jersey that we used to go to while growing up....
so it brings back memories for me, even though the food is hit or miss, espescially the steaks and prime rib..
most items do NOT look like the pictures on the menu!
However, the salad bar and breads are great.
And I figured it was a good halfway point for my sis and nephew to meet up with me and bf..
we went to the one in Forked River, (Lacey Township) , exit 74 off of Garden State Parkway..
Started off with SLIDER BURGERS which they let me order in the dining room, even though they were just on the bar menu..
I would NOT personally recommend them... we all agreed that the ROLLS were much too BIG and FLOURY for the meat. And they should really come with grilled onions, but they don't ...( I did ask the waitress to add them on , but she forgot.. )
The slider burgers certainly were'nt terrible, but as my sis would say, they were NOT a repeater!
On the bright side, it was nice to have 3 others to share those mediocre sliders with.... as we each had to endure just ONE slider..
However, the FRENCH FRIES were the real thing, better than I remembered..
We also ordered buffalo chicken fingers for an app..(wings came out first by mistake) ...they had a nice, "real thing" flavor..
(not that processed taste).....although my sis detected that the sauce was most likely just "FRANK'S RED HOT"....
we do prefer our nice, homemade, buttery type wing sauces...(think Archie Moore's wing sauce, etc)
SURPRISINGLY, I decided to NOT get a steak or piece of prime rib... (very out of character for me !)
I had one of "Charlie's favorites", the PARMESAN CRUSTED CHICKEN....it was very good... espescially after I asked for some extra lemon butter sauce on the side...
And for you SEAFOOD LOVERS out there, here's a pic of my bf's SHRIMP STUFFED WITH CRABMEAT...
He said it was real good; even though I don't do seafood, it DID look nice...
Sis got the prime rib, (too "veiny") and my nephew got the flat iron steak (decent)
all in all , a real nice B-day dinner!
