This looks like a good program.

Synopsis.
Rebuilding New Orleans One Meal at a Time
Since the early days of New Orleans, food and music have been the heart and soul of the city. Post-Katrina, the importance of these establishments has increased dramatically. Serving food, playing music and having a meeting place are no longer luxuries. If these communities are going to return, they are essential. This unique episode of Emeril Live will take a look at some of the people, meeting places and establishments that are offering hope and healing one meal and one song at a time.

That sounds like it would be a great show if it didn't include Emeril Lagasse. I've never gone from really liking to really hating a TV personality quite like I've done with Emeril (Rachel Ray is a close second- and yes, I watch too much FoodTV).

I guess despite the presence of Emeril, I will watch. I'm anxious to see how all the great restaurnats of N.O. are doing.

I agree with you on both Emeril and Rachel. I hope that Emeril does justice to this story that should be told. He got his cooking "education" in NOLA, and I hope he deals with the subject with respect.

Emeril and Rachel have focused way too much on the personality stuff and forgotten the cooking (BAM!) I have to confess though, if I weren't a happily married man, I'd have a serious thing for Sara Moulton. I started to realize I had feelings for her when she cooked her veal tarragon (10 minute prep, a lifetime to enjoy) but knew I was in love with her when I saw her do her pork scaloppini with mushrooms. No man could resist that. Fred

i disagree with the emeri and rachel baiting. they entertain people with their exuberant personalities and i truly get a kick out of them. and i think rachel is a hotie.

I bet this will be interesting none the less, no matter who you like and dislike..
If you have ever been to 'Nawlin's, I am sure it will be of interest to you.
If you havent, then maybe you should visit there so you will know these places...

This isnt an argument as to who we like on the FN.

It was just a listing I wanted to show my fellow posters.
NOt get into a personality bashing contest here!
That is going on now on another thread.

I like Emeril, I'm anxious to see his N.O. show too.

His live show is great. His recipes are doable for the most part. I've only seen about 2 or 3 recipes (one was a dessert) that I said, "no way, I could never do that." Mostly because it required multiple day(s) preparation. Much too much to remember. And one thing was just over the top complicated.
But, in general, once you've done the prep work (cutting, chopping, dicing, measuring, etc etc.)that his little bees do before and off camera, you can actually do many of his recipes, and they come out looking (more or less) the same as his....more or less. For me, probably less, but hey, it's still impressive to guests if it comes out just "ok."

I'll definately try to catch one of the showings.
Plus, in 20 years, the program will be good Americana memorabilia of the aftermath and rebirth of N.O.

I have heard from a reliable source, Emeril is a huge pain in the ...
                with his staff and crew.

I rarely see him fix a thing that interests me. When his audience tasts his concotctions, none seem overly impressed.

I do not care for him but I want to tell you that I have been to three of his restaurants and each one has "wowed" me. The food is terrific!

I thought this show was great. A nice blend of food, music and people. Domilise's segment make my mouth water. Emeril's heart seems to be in the right place here. Check out a rerun.

Emeril and Rachael have, if nothing else, raised the profile of chefs and cooking in this country, and as Martha says, "That's a good thing." Being a chef--at any level--is a very demanding, time-consuming, energy-draining job. More power to them, and less power to those who bash them out of what I presume to be jealousy.
