OK It may just be my lack of clear vision, but where are the numbers for Conn. and R.I.? (since that was the issue that triggered the whole thing?)

Sorry about the lack of clarity with the labeling on the map, Mayor.

I tried to copy/paste the spreadsheet for all states, but it wouldn't format properly. So, to answer the question, as of today, Connecticut has 101 restaurants reviewed, and the census population is 3,448,913. So, the ratio is one restaurant for every 34148 residents, or 1:34148. That makes Connecticut # 2 among the 50 states, behind only Vermont, with a 1:32667 ratio. Rhode Island is ranked # 10, with a 1:96813 ratio. 11 restaurants reviewed, populaton 1,064,948. The other that might be obscured is Delaware. It's # 8, or a ratio of 1:90966.

I know this is not the most scientific way to prove anything, but I agree with WJ that Colorado, Utah, Nevada etc, scream for 'bulking up'!

You make an interesting discussion point. One that is a major issue for a lot of people. If you find a little restaurant that really is a gem...great food, friendly 'down-home' service, beautiful environment and ambience... all the things that make a place special, is it a good idea to share that knowledge with 'everyone', or does that run the risk of 'spoiling your find' by suddenly having tour buses unload there and the parking lot jammed everytime you visit the place???
It has been our sad experience that success can spoil a business, especially in the Roadfood World.

I agree heartily that success has ruined a number of restaurants.

In fact, success (through media exposure . . . including BLOGs, "reviews", etc.) has even had a negative effect on some foods.

Twenty years ago if someone had told me that flank steak would cost more in a supermarket than porterhouse steak, I would have called them crazy! But, check it out.

Make a particular food (just like a particular restaurant) 'TRENDY' and the price will go up and the quality will often go down (in my opinion, anyway) .

I would love to contribute to Colorado's restaurant reviews, but I rarely eat out anymore and most of my reviews would be a couple of years behind. I don't like recommending places when it's been that long. Restaurants change owners, locations, menus, etc., too often around here and I don't want to mislead anyone.

I was just kidding. I don't feel anyplace is over represented. There is no such thing as too much info in my book, but many places have a lot of uncovered territory!
BTW, I knew you were kidding, Tony. I am a litte surprised there are so few restaurants in Nevada and Colorado. i hope someone will write a review of the Winnemucca Hotel in Winnemucca as I have not been there in 15 years and there are some new owners who have spruced up the place but have not tampered with the menu.
