And the winner is..... COLUMBUS, Ohio — The chain that claims it's "way better than fast food" did better than its competitors in a new survey. Wendy's has been named the top fast-food chain by restaurant guide publisher Zagat (zuh-GAT'). The burger restaurants based in the Columbus suburb of Dublin, Ohio, rated No. 1 overall, followed by Subway, McDonald's, KFC and Burger King. Wendy's also ranked first in the last Zagat fast-food survey two years ago. Separate rankings of the food and the facilities at the big quick-service chains have Wendy's on top as well. Zagat Survey CEO Tim Zagat says the chains that fared best offer a lot of value to diners, which he says is more important than ever in the current economy. Wendy's is part of Atlanta-based Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc

Maybe in Columbus you can get what you actually order at Wendy's - it's a running joke for us - what do they want us to eat today? We don't frequent Wendy's all that much, but invariably we'll order something specific for burger toppings, and end up with something completely different. I think Letterman at one point did a similar rant - "I know you ordered a burger, but we think you should eat a chicken sandwich"....

I used to work around the corner from Wendy's HQ in Dublin, OH... they actually have a store on the corner right down the street. Probably the best burgers I've ever had at a fast food joint. The only problem I ever had, was this one employee. Apparently the stores in the area swap employees routinely, because every time I hit any random drive-thru, it seemed I got the same guy handing me my food, and when I inevitably asked for a handful of ketchup packets (yes, I'd use them all), he'd scowl and hand me 1 or 2 packets. Apparently he didn't like to hand out extra ketchup. Oh, and Taco Bell hot and Fire sauce packets go great in Wendy's Chili!

I am learning to check out what I get for takeout at White Castle - half the time they screw up orders it seems.

NYPIzzaNut I am learning to check out what I get for takeout at White Castle - half the time they screw up orders it seems. I gave up on Wendy's years ago because I never got what I ordered. But I've noticed similar problems at White Castle over the past couple of years, and so I always check my order. Not long ago, my order of six Castles with mustard and no pickles turned out to be four Castles with mustard AND pickles, four White Castle cheeseburgers, one double Castle, and an order of onion chips.

Why would you not look in the bag at any fast food restaurant before you drive away (or walk away)? You look at food in a sit-down restaurant before you eat it, and they don't have a very good track record for getting things right, either.

I'll take Burger King or DQ over Wendy's any day --- I just like the flavor better. I don't know how well our local Wendy's is doing, but the DQ is always packed. It's a shame we have no Burger King. Andrea
