Ever had any decent hospital food?

I don't know what it is about surgery, but it makes me ravenous. As long as I'm not on a clear liquid diet or anything, I tend to wolf down just about anything they set in front of me, regardless of flavor or texture or lack of either. The funniest experience was when I had my son 19 months ago. With my breakfast one morning I got the milk, sugar, and hot water . . . but no tea bag! lol The worst was when I wasn't actually in the hospital myself, but visiting a friend at Bethesda Naval Hospital. I mistakenly ordered scrambled eggs. I can tell you that they were definitely not powdered. Because they had the shells in.

Haven't been in hospital a great number of times, but once, many moons ago, I was there having delivered one of our four sons....and had the most delicious dinner one evening. It was baked Acorn Squash with crisp bacon atop and it tasted so good. It was my first experience with Acorn Squash and have loved it ever since. This was surprising as my mother cooked all kinds of good veggies but we had never had Acorn Squash. Other than that, my hospital meals have not been noteworthy. I'm certain the meals are healthful and nutritious, well balanced, etc., just not very tasty. Not even the coffee! Donna
