Ever mis-read a forum topic?! Fri, 04/20/07 4:52 AM (permalink)
I have to laugh, because I did the other day. Must be my old eyes ... or maybe it was what I -really- wanted the topic to be about? .

It's the "Best of Phoenix Cheesesteak," which I mis-read to be "Best of Phoenix Cheesecake." Hmm... I do suppose that the forum heading for that one should have been Desserts, but when I started reading, my mind was all set (as was my mouth!) to read about cheesecakes! And I don't live anywhere near Phoenix, mind you - but my mouth was watering to read about the cheesecakes there.

*laughs* Hope this gives someone else a chuckle.

    tarragon-
I made the exact same mistake. I also originally misread cheesecake instead of cheesesteak. I definitely think this was a case of reading what we want to see rather than what is really there.

I'm embarrassed to say that when I saw the recent topic on "sea salt grinders", I thought they were using the word grinders as in another word for subs or hoagies. Once I started reading, it made a lot more sense!

Well, that would explain why both tarragon and I saw what we saw. I'm just glad to hear it wasn't just me!

          Yes,

A few months ago, Redtressed started a thread which sounded something like this- "Julia does it again, you go girlfriend"

Anyway, I'm thinking it had something to do with Julia Roberts, well I began to read the thread and it was about Julia Child. So I guess it just goes to show you my mind was definetely on Julia Roberts which I hope every red blooded american male would agree with me!

It is not only my eyes that deceive me these days, but when the brain fills in for what the eyes miss, the result is often pretty strange.
Driving (at night, in the rain) past a road sign that I've seen hundreds of times, I wondered who the hell put up a sign that said "COMFY CORNER". About 30 yards closer, I could see, of course, the sign for "COUNTY CENTER".

I always do a double take when I see a sign for a Martial Arts place ...

I always cogitate it as Marital Arts.

Isn't that strange! So maybe it did originally say cheesecake! Oh, Buffetbuster, we must both be on the same wavelength, though, because I too thought that the sea salt grinder was about some (unusual) grinder sandwich. *lol*

Must resist urge to get cheesecake ...

1 thread was about this guy who was Quitting Pot (VERY GOOD) -- I misread the title as "Getting Pot"

After reading this topic, I saw the next and it was "My mountain view". I thought it was going to be about the diner manufacturer, LOL...
