Excessive charges..wow! Fri, 10/2/09 2:44 PM (permalink)
Private musical performances are usually held only for the rich and most likely, famous and it’s not hard to see why. Although these performers and bands are great, is it really worth the money to hear them sing a few songs? You decide.

Celine Dion holds a private performance approximately two or three times a year. For each performance she charges 6.5 million dollars.

An investor from Texas, David Bonderman, paid the Rolling Stones seven million dollars to play for one hour at his sixtieth birthday party in 2002.

Neither of these though has broken the record.

The world’s most expensive private musical performance was done by The Eagles, who charged six million dollars to play one song. The song was “Hotel California” and it was performed at a private party in New York City.

      I may be wrong, but...

PEPSI-COLA (COCA-COLA...?) offered Mr. Bruce Springsteen a VERY big sum for his song "Born in the USA". As far, as I know, old Bruce never sold his most famous song to the companies...

      Respect, Mr. Springsteen!

Worth is in the eye of the beholder.  Personally, if someone wanted to pay me that much money to do my job, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, and I'd bet anyone else would as well.

I personally worked a wedding in Petoskey a few years ago where the labour bill alone was over $2M (not all mine, obviously ).  Rich people and their money can part any way they want, and so much the better if some of it lands in my pocket in the process.
