FORT DAVIS, TX AND BIG BEND NAT'L. PARK AREA

Will be in Fort Davis/Alpine/Big Bend National Park area for a week in April. I'm sure eating spots are limited, but I feel certain some Roadfood members will know a couple of good places to chow down. Also maybe places to stay.

We were in that area for Labor Day '09. The only place that we ate was Chuckwagon BBQ in Ft.Davis, supper on Sunday and breakfast on Monday. Both meals were good enough that we're planning on stopping in again when we return to Big Bend this April. They were sold out of rib's by the time we arrived on Sunday, so we just had brisket and sausage. Both were comparable to what we had in Lockhart two days later.

My wife and I visited this area in 2007. Stayed at the El Oso Flojo Lodge in Balmorhea. Ate next door at the La Cueva del Oso Cafe. Good Tex-Mex food. If you have time, try to visit the McDonald Observatory.
