CajunKing I am going on a date next Friday with my first love (age 6 or 7), we just connected again through FB. I havent seen her or heard from her since she moved away in 1979. That is amazing CK! You had to be so surprised to be able to find here after all of these years. I wish you the best on this date!!!

Mosca Funny, I don't get it. I have a page, but I never think about it. I don't understand how it fits into my communication map. But I never got IMing, or texting either. Facebook has been real active for me cause we've got a few dozen or so of us poker dealers and supervisors schmoozing on there lately... including the guy I've been hanging out with... so that makes it fun for me... (writing on someones Facebook "wall" is like the modern version of a short phone call... !) I even just had a former high school classmate write me the other day on Facebook. Class of '77 .. She found me! I do NOT get that TEXTING thing either, Mosca!! I'm with you on that! I probably send only about 5 texts a month, if that much.... and usually those are to respond to a cellphone pic my sis sent me. or to respond to an invite for a house poker game from my fellow work buddies...

Facebook is changing again with a more active home page... http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=57822962130 It sounds like a bit of Twitter going into it. Have you used Twitter? Twitter is a virtual information explosion if you know who to follow. A message called a Tweet has to be said in 140 characters. Many are expanded with url references that will take you to updated pages way before Google search crawlers ever get to them. For instance the airplane crash landing in the river popped up on my screen as it was happening. If you want really mind blowing info feeds try Tweet Grid where you can set up a grid of keywords and follow what millions are saying. Here is one I set up. It can be mesmerizing if you pick active keywords. http://is.gd/lQXl

I love Facebook. Have found a few old friends. Also use it to play Mafia Wars, which I'm addicted to.

Okay facebook experts, I have a question for you. I just found a bunch of friend requests that were old and I had failed to respond to...so I did. Among them were some from people I didn't know, but I accepted anyway figuring maybe I'd figure it all out when I could view their profile. Instead, I find they are from people I really don't know, some are in languages I don't speak. Is this normal that people simply send requests to people they don't know? Why do they do this? Seems to defeat the urpose of this thing.

I don't know how much I will ever use it, but I finally signed up. It is rather amazing how many friends and relatives I have who are already on there.

Tony, I have to admit I made friends with my Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty. I don't know him and I never met him. If talking 6 degrees of separation his brother-in-law was my former boss. But what the heck, he is a public figure and I can now read his Wall and post on it if I want. If you have any kind of public presence you are going to pick up more "followers" than "friends". Can you be a friend if I have never met you like people here on Roadfood.com? I have a few but haven't gone overboard. I know I have picked up a few friends who have e-mailed me and followed me on my porktenderloinsandwich.com website. I've made friends with former high school classmates that I might have only given a passing nod to in high school but am now finding I am communicating with quite a bit. I figure the more "friends" you have the more public you are. I publish a lot of photo albums. If people want to be my friend that I do not know to have easy access to them it is fine by me. It is a new kind of social networking medium and there is no reason why you cannot pick up new friends if you have something to share. The very first friend I picked up I did not know but he was a young guy from Mississippi with my name. In doing a search I discovered he has befriended quite a few of my namesakes. I bet his Home Wall is confusing.

Most of the mystery "friends" are from younger people, who I doubt have any interest in communicating with me. (some are attractive young ladies...so I know it must be an error!) Perhaps I just share a name with someone they know.

Others may not be able to see your profile because of your privacy settings so they may think they know you if they are friends with someone you have as a friend. Facebook recommends "people you MAY know." So it all depends on the person. If you add them than realize you don't know them, simply go to your friends list, look for their name and delete them by clicking the X in the right corner of the box next to their names.

Facebook is addictive enough in itself. I do my best to avoid all those games, pokes, send drinks, send food, what are yous?, etc.

I had a great guy friend in HS who married a gal in our class. We all lived and graduated HS in MN. Last week, I have a friend request from the gal. They live 5 miles from us. Facebook is great. Drinks and dinner next week.

susanll OOO, I didn't know there was a Scrabble game You need to check out Lexulous. It appears to be Scrabble, without the licensing. The letter values are slightly different, but otherwise it plays the same.

I, personally think Twitter is useless, but Facebook has enabled me to find old friends, make new ones, and generally help me "twitter" the time away while I was laid off. But, I did get addicted to several of the games.. My newest one is the lucky strike bowling.. Its always something.......

Now that I am at a certain level, CK, they are changing the pics of the landmarks to stuff I never saw before, cities & countries I've never heard of, etc. I guess that's true for any game? I do enjoy it though, being a map nerd.
