Family Road Trip---Post 2

For some reason yesterday my computer wouldn't let me put anything in the message box. So here we go. I am taking my wife and children ages 3,5, &14 on a family vacation. Will be leaving from northern Indiana and traveling to Niagara Falls, Rutland, Vt, Cape Cod (Provincetown), Boston and Watkins Glen, Ny. I am looking for suggestions for restautrants along the way. While I enjoy the occasional fine dining I am looking more for kid friendly diners and good old fashioned road food. I am, of course, familiar with the Anchor Bar in Buffalo and consider it a must stop. I have poured over the "New England Ice Cream Quest". I am open to any and all suggestions, cuisines, etc. Especially looking for some of the super fresh seafood. Thanks in advance!!

If you get off the thruway at any point you will run into some great places on your trip. I personally do not care for Anchor Bar (I am a Buffalo native). Across from the main entrance (on Franklin St) to Watkins Glen is Mr.Chicken, very kid friendly with a funny neon sign outside. I would suggest on your trip up to Buffalo, getting off the 90 and taking Route 5. It runs next to the lake and you can get some amazing views. I definitely recommend taking the family to Red Top on Rt. 5 in Hamburg (an old fashion hot dog stand)-milkshakes, waffle fries, hot dogs, burgers, and more with a view of the lake right across the street. Hope this helps!

The Land-Ho in Orleans, MA used to be a pretty nice place. It is about 1/2 way out the Cape towards P'Town. Kid friendly and fun. I would check out places in Wellfleet as well. Here's a link for the Ho...... Just remembered in Wellfleet it's the"Wicked Oyster". Very good. http://www.land-ho.com/orleans/home.html
