Every time there's a damn thread that someone thinks is out of place, someone has to chime in with "please move this here" as if it's some big deal that's really impacting someone's life. Leave the moderators alone and get to the food. Another possibly would be to set up a forum for "Requests to Move Threads". That would be a fun one. Or perhaps, there should be a thread monitor who spends all of his/her time overseeing the correct placement of threads.

So now there are two threads about a single franchise chain on the home page. Interesting.

saps, you're too late. There already seem to be several people who are "thread monitors". As others have suggested many times, why is it so hard to just skip a thread you're not interested in? Do these people read every word, ads and all, of the daily paper?

I try to avoid chains whenever practical, and I won't shop at Walmart, although I am a loyal Sams club member and Borders customer, which my SO says makes me a hypocrite. The only place I've found to get consistently good bbq in Annapolis Maryland however,is under the maple tree in my back yard, so Famous Daves has been a nice addition to our restaurant community. I've been to Red Hot and Blue, and been totally underwelmed, as well as most of the other offerings in the immediate area. There are some good joints in Southern MD, and whenever I'm south of the potomac I seek out every possible mom and pop bbq shack I come across. That being said, I find Daves a reasonable facsimile of decent, if not earth shattering que. Every time I've been the service has been fine, prices are reasonable, good quantity, and for the size of the operation the food has been very good overall. I even fall back on their sauce in the grocery store when I don't feel like making my own. I've actually been surprised at how good their pulled pork sandwichs were several times, and I think the rib tips are a great bargain. I'll sign off now and await the thread police, and chain haters to run amuck. I'm sure I've probably dangled a few participles, and misspelled a work of two, so I'll be stockpiling food and ammunition in anticipation of the grammar patrol. The Horror....The Horror. Hey yall I have tried a great Mustard Sauce its from JAC'S TAILGATERS on my brisket and Boston Butt you have to try it for yourselves. Check out their webpage. it looks to be exspensive but shipping is included. I used it on brisket and Boston butt before I put my rub on it. I also grilled salmon with it lightly rubbed on it. I just mixed it up with brown sugar and going to use it as a glaze on a ham. It is wonderful. www.jacstailgaters.com

quote:Originally posted by mbrookes I've heard of this. I think it's a chain in the midwest. Does anyone know anything about it? I've eaten at the Chattanooga, Tennessee location several times, but never had a satisfactory experience. I thought the food was mediocre at best. I could do better on a Hibachi from Walgreen's. Whatever you do, avoid the potato salad.

Maybe the Mayor made these comments, but the thread is too long to check. Sometimes, while traveling, you get the need for some Q. You don't know where the" one just like at home",might be. You doubt the young girl at the motel desk can glance at you and instantly know your tastes. You don't want to be poisoned,or get lost in the wrong part of town,be underfed, be charged a rediculous amount. You really don't want wings, tacos,or burgers. Adequate Q,right then, seems better than no Q. You figure you are smart enough to ask the right questions and look around at other tables. Maybe they are adequate,or they wouldn't be able to expand. You'll try to find something redeeming at the place, and hope to be pleasantly shocked. Yes,we are hounds, and constantly hope to find the ultimate roadfood. Just my $0.02 Tom

Whoever dedfines the best BBQ is subjective at best. Due to my travels, I have had BBQ in SC, NC,KY, TN TX,CA, MN and in many other states. I can state definately that not all of it was what I was use to. I have friends in NC that swear with the vinegar taste and I have friends in TX that cannot tolerate pork. It is all subjective. I have had BBQ is four or five states that I consider really good. TN, TX, KY, GA, AL, NC, SC and all of these are good in their own way. Some of them I do not prefer but that is my taste only. Famous Daves is at best mediocre but pretty good. I like the comment from the previous poster who said that when you need some good Q, you gotta get what you gotta get. Famous Dave's has some really good rib tips. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

"Face it -- Famous Dave's is to BBQ what McDonald's is to hamburgers." I just had some BBQ in Atlanta from a place recommended on these very boards, and 1/2 way through my meal, I was wishing I had chosen Famous Dave's instead. True, Famous Dave's has nothing on the better places in North Carolina, Texas, or KC. But having eaten alot of BBQ from alot of Mom and Pop type places, I say Famous Dave's is better than 2/3 of them. They do a nice job with the meat, offer good sides, and the sauces are very adequate. The best BBQ in the world, it is not. But at least you get good quality food and never lets you down.
