Famous Daves

Has anyone tried Famous Daves? A company store was opened here about 8 years ago. Last year, a franchiser bought it and 4 others in SE Wisconsin. Daves is the only BBQ joint in town. I know Madison has a couple of other BBQ joints, as well as Daves. I noticed that there are quite a few now opened, especially along the easern seaboard.

TJ and Sundancer, thanx for the threads. Sundancer, I had looked for the search engine, and didn't see it. I note that I overlooked it, and have now found it.

I saw that, haha, now it all makes sense. Famous Dave's is the only place I've ever gotten food poisoning at.

A friend of mine had a heart attack yesterday and had to have immediate open heart surgery. He had a triple by pass plus three blood transfusions. My daughter who is a family nurse practicitioner and also knows my friend. She came by to visit while he was in surgery to consult and console my friends wife and brothers. After that I volunteered to take my wife to lunch. Famous Daves was only a couple of blocks away. I know BBQ pretty good and I would be deceiving you if I posted the best BBQ ever. It was not but it was more than decent. Their sauce is very good with a bit of peppery aftertaste. I got the rib tips and daughter got the pulled pork. Their ice tea was very good and cole slaw was chopped and tasty. Fries were very good. Lunch was $20 plus tip. Knoxville has not great BBQ places. Calhouns is sailing on yesterdays wind and Buddy's ain't good any more. Famous Daves is filling a void and by the crowd that was there at lunch, they are having some success. Paul E.
