Fancy new back deck Tue, 05/24/11 12:46 AM (permalink)
I needed some space to roll out equipment, came up with this simple idea - make a platform, add some trailer leveling jacks on the corners, and viola! A handy rear deck to use for additional equipment space, BBQ or whatever...just need to finish it off now!

Hmmm...folding up for travel....now that's a great idea! There's some stuff in the way like an electrical outlet, but I might be able to make it fit. I'm gonna go outside and check it out.
I was simply going to slide it down the middle for travel, but having some hinges would be great. However, I'd want to have some release pins because we would not want to have the back open during bad weather.

maybe you could fit a lip to mount it, and have it fold up behind(outside) the doors, then in bad/cold weather, you slip in and out one of the back doors instead of having to exit the trailer and come around from the side.....
then your doors could act also as side walls, build a small "roof" that folds up from the inside.....
man, i could go on and on with the idea for this!...... now you have me thinking about the ol' van, lol......back porches for everyone !

I have been wanting to build something like this. I was actually going to have it permanently mounted, but this is giving me more ideas. In Oklahoma the deck would have to be screened in.

We're planning on rigging it so the doors become 'walls', and putting some bug screen in the open space and the 'roof'. We've already have 85 degree weather up here, so having the rear doors open will be great! Especially if we can keep the giant mosquitoes out...
