Fast Highway

How many people have parked on their hot dog cart on the side of the road where people travel about 45-50 miles and hour. Not much walk traffic. How well did it work out for you? I have a chance to park in front of a carpet store but it sits back from the road however I can park closer to the street. I think it would benefit both of us.

Well it might. You would need some kind of signage to draw attention. Are there any small shopping centers in that area? Any with auto parts? Find out who own's them, most are out of area owners. Might have leasing agent or maint. agent close. Have pic's,to send to them if asked or to show that you are on the up and up and contact them. At first always on the lookout for new or better site. Are they charging you for the space? Got another idea most have it in there lease that they can have vendors for business promotion. Might be able to use that for a 3 day try. Auto Parts big for this.

That is good. Love free. Fast road might not be noticed at first. Can you put up signage at the location. Have sign in mind but do not know if you can use it. Shellysdawghouse, she still posts, now she had a sign. loved it. Guess was at her first location. Do not know if she is using it now. But if I saw that sign along highway would grab attention and I would diffently stop.

I had a spot on the highway. Don't bother. People are going too fast and by the time they see you..........there gone. And as for remembering you are there next time, the don't. And my spot was free. and still NOT worth it. I pay where i am now and my worst day here is better than my best day there. Good luck.

I'd drop some signage 500 yards up the road to let people know you're there, give them a bit of time to think "Hey, yea. I'd like a dog..." and then the reflex time to slow down and pull over.

Before you consider placing a sign, you have to check into it first. If it is on a highway, you need to contact the Dept. of Transportation and/or your local police dept. to make sure it is ok to place a sign on a public road. It could easily be considered a safety/traffic hazard. A fast road, a sign to stop for a hot dog and reflexes that are not as quick as they used to be...ya know. If you place a sign on private property (off the street), you should always ask for permission by the owner of the property, before doing ANYTHING. CYA

CC wish Shelly would have posted her sign. Found it, would have to bring whole thread forward. It's a sign that you just want to make a post card of and send to somebody. We can renew

No, a sign is a GREAT idea. As long as it is allowed. I would not want to be in the position of placing a sign first (on my own), and having to answer questions from the powers that be, afterwards.

Yes, your earlier post asked IF a sign was allowed. My post was not in response to your post. I added my opinion why I think it is important not to move forward, until that question is 100% resolved, because it could be considered a safety/traffic hazard, by official agencies. . There are other posts that say, drop a sign up the road. I do not move past the issue of safety/traffic until such matters are clear.

It is not the nose that is not covered in these situations. CYA If you take personal offense to a suggestion that I mention checking with local authorities, before placing a sign (since it was not mentioned in this thread), sorry. I do not take ANYTHING for granted and do not assume ANYTHING when it is a matter of business. That is fine. Continue to have fun & chill.

Sign was okay with the owner of the property. He had no problem with it. It was the town. They wanted ALL of the signs back i believe 25ft. and with that the owner got nervous they would give him a hard time so i "offered" to remove it. I was very unhappy about that. People loved that sign. I would see people taking pix. or laughing about it. It is sad

Let me clarify a little. I shouldn't have said highway. It is a major road through town however the traffic goes about 45-50 miles per hour. The carpet store gets some walk traffic and there are some businesses, however they may not want to cross this very busy street. Any one else tried a road such as this. It is Gallatin Rd in Madison TN for any of you familiar.
