Love Baby Ruths and Mallow cups, but I have to say, the best "mass-produced" bar chocolate "bar" none for me was when I lived in France and tasted the "Cote d'Or" brand. Delicious, although I actually think it might be manufactured in Belgium. Anybody else hear of this brand?

CLARK bars were always my favorite when I was a kid. Haven't seen them much since I moved to the west coast 20 years ago.

I actually had the pleasure of trying my first white chocolate Take 5 bar when I went to Buffalo a few days ago. Not as sweet as I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I hope that the white variety is brought up to Canada.

They have made a bit of a return here on the east coast, after almost vanishing totally for many years. NECCO now owns them, and they are easier to find. Hope they make it your way. A few years back Turkey Hill, a PA ice cream company which is available in the NE and mid-atlantic, had a Clark BAr flavor of ice cream...it was heavenly!!!!

Send them a note and ask where you can find them...

You can always try one of those online candy places...only problem is they make you buy a whole box, and then your pants may not fit!

Thanks for the Clark Bar website, Tony Bad. I just emailed them to find out if they're available in the Philly Burbs. I have a memory of eating a Clark Bar back in the early '60's on a Friday night while watching "International Showtime", the circus program with Don Ameche as host. I don't remember much about the program, but I know I loved that Clark Bar, and I'd love to try one again.

My husband and I have asked each other: If you could only choose one candy bar to have for the rest of your life, what would it be?" After going through all the candies I've enjoyed over the years, it usually comes back to Reese's PB cups-- I know, not a candy BAR, but in the same vein.

Has anyone here yet mentioned the Bun candy bars. I rediscovered them a few months ago when some appeared in the vending machine where I work. I have since been a crusader to try to encourage more places in this area to carry them, and have had probably four successes so far. I have tended to find them more in the relatively few remaining independent drug and sundry stores. A few Walgreen's in my area carry them, but haven't found them in the chain groceries.

All you Candy Freaks need to read Candyfreak by Steve Almond....it is all about candy (mostly candy bars), it's history and many of the older factories that are still turning out some classics. I really enjoyed it. Almond's sense of humor makes it a fun read.

Does anyone remember the old Hollywood bars? I think the same company made the 7UP bars. See's candies are all available thru mail-order at their website; they're not as exotic as Godiva's, but the ingredients are fresh and taste it! Favorites: Goo-goo pecan clusters, Zero bars, Cadbury Fruit & Nut bars, Caramello bars, Val-O-Milk, Mallo Cups, Chocolate Necco wafers . . . I'm a dyed-in-the-wool chocoholic!

My favorite is Skybar, by Necco. 4 separate fillings (fudge, caramel, vanilla and peanut butter) in 4 seperate compartments, enrobed by chocolate. Its hard to find here in Pennsylvania, but I did convince the local convenience store down the block from where I work to stock them.Surprisingly, I have also seen them at Cracker Barrel- an occasional breakfast stop.(we like their hash brown caserole and the fact they provide real maple syrup)

My all time favorite was Mars Bars. Are they even made any more?

Also Zero. Not really candy bars but Reese's peanut butter cups, and Cella's chocolate covered cherries.

I couldn't remember if I've seen them at my local candy counters recently and when I did a Google search, they seemed to keep coming up as being available in Canada or UK, but the packaging looks different. Try typing "Mars Bar" or "M&M Mars Bar" into a search engine and see if you find what I found-- which is-- not much, unfortunately.

I didn't find Mars Bar listed in Hometown Favorites' list of items that are no longer available, either, which might be a good sign.

The Mars bar has since been renamed. It is now the Snickers Almond bar.

Beechnut- can't thank youe enough, with Halloween candy in the grocery stores already, I can see I'm going to get in trouble with those snack size bags.
