Favorite or most unique fair food? Sun, 08/9/09 8:48 AM (permalink)
So everyone that does fairs & festivals & concessions; what is your favorite food to get while you're out? Or whats the most unique food you've seen from your fellow concessionaires? Im trying to come up with some new menu items but I want something completely different than what I see around here. Of couse theres always corn dogs, hot dogs, burgers, turkey legs, BBQ, Chicken on a Stick, etc. I did a show where I tried out selling BBQ Balogna sandwiches (some shows I goto there are a ton of them, others there are none) and Smoked Pork Loin sandwich & they did well. But I really want something unique & something that will go well in a festival setting.

My favorite here at the New York State Fair is the fried dough yard stick, unfortunately is isnt my favorite price $5.00 each or 5 for $20. They're sooooooooo good though.

New this year at the Wisconsin State Fair is the Machine Shed's chocolate covered bacon on a stick.  It has everyone talking. I understand it is milk chocolate (not for me) and has a light sprinkle of sea salt (nice touch). I'm going in two days and I'll try to find out the price.

Ive heard of chocolate bars with bacon in them. Supposed to be pretty good. I know I would like the Cayenne chocolate.
        Whats the Fried Dough Yardstick?

I`m also wondering about the fried dough yardstick? Do I need a 36" long deep fryer? ha

My favorite at the New York State Fair is the Italian sausage with onions and peppers followed by the fried dough.

Big fan of the fritter - apple fritters, corn fritters (for those that like, clam fritters) - something I never make at home, and enjoy when piping hot and fresh at a fair.

I like cracklin' cornbread - lived on it while in Alabama.

                      I would have to say:
                      1) Funnel cake
                      2) Sausage & Peppers
                      3) Fresh cut potato fries
                      4) Chicken Gyros
Dang, I like Fair foods too much!  ;)

btw, the chocolate covered bacon on a stick was on special for a buck a stick, normally 2 sticks for $3.
I have to say that if I had one stick a year, it would be a huge treat and I understand its appeal.

Hands down, fresh squeezed, fresh shaken lemonade where they make each and every cup to order.  God I love those bad boys.
